Congrats to Brad on this appointment to the FCS selection committee........... he will do a great job. Great honor to UCA also.

Wonder if he has to abstain on any votes involving UCA?

Interestingly, Arkansas D1 schools now have spots on both the FCS and the FBS selection committees...............

Congrats to Brad...he is a top tier AD and will represent UCA and the
Southland Conference with class. He is also pretty darn smart.

An honor for both Brad and UCA. He will be an asset for the selection committee.

I'm not holding out much hope for an at large bid here. Not so much the loss
that hurts you but how bad the loss was. If UCA had played Sam a little closer
it probably would help in the committees eyes.

Hate to say it, but given our injury situation, the Bears might not due justice to a bid. This team must have used all the band-aids in the state this fall. Give both the players and coaches credit, they fought all season, just didn't have enough bullets left last night.

Let's see what the day brings. Perhaps we will get a bid.
I've seen stranger things happen.

Good season, proud of the Bears!

Never say never, but I just don't believe a bid is coming our way.....I understand that there are like 10 nine win teams out there following Saturdays games.

Hope, Hope, Hope....just don't think it is happening.

Just logged on to the NCAA site, just to make sure....
Seasons over...time to move on to basketball.

Samford, I believe, is the season open next fall, at home.

I sure hope that we return the favor! I'm pretty sure that if we had won that game, we would be in the playoffs!

Initial read is that Eastern Illinois win may have gotten them in but the question is 6-5 Western Illinois..........their being from MVC must have carried very heavy weight.......New Hampshire at 7-4 also a bubble team that got in........probably got in over UCA as Colonial notably higher ranking this year than Southland.........

Brackets are pretty stout.......

Round 1

#14 Fordham (51) at #7 Chattanooga (61) by 13, 20-50
#18 Citadel (57) at #10T Coastal Carolina (57) by 3, 41-38
Colgate (43) at New Hampshire (49) by 9, 27-20
#17 Southern Utah (61) at #6 Sam Houston State (61) by 3, 39-42
#10T South Dakota State (66) by 6 at #16 Montana (57), 17-24
#24 Eastern Illinois (53) at #15 Northern Iowa (66) by 16, 17-53
Duquense (42) at #13 William & Mary (60) by 21, 49-52
Western Illinois (57) by 18 at Dayton (36), 24-7

Round 2

#8 Chattanooga at #1 Jacksonville State
#18 Citadel at #7 Charleston Southern
#17 Montana at #3 North Dakota State
#14 Northern Iowa at #5 Portland State
Colgate at #6 James Madison
#10 Sam Houston State at #2 McNeese State
#13 William & Mary at #11 Richmond
Western Illinois at #4 Illinois State

Observation: If Eastern Illinois is who edged UCA out, then we probably would have also played at Northern Iowa and a win would have taken us to Portland State. If we were edged out by New Hampshire, then Fordham may have been paired with Colgate and UCA with Chattanooga then #1 Jacksonville State. Neither path would have been easy.

This is the one thing about the FCS playoffs that I don't like! Look at the number of in-conference matches in Round #2! That is crazy. It's due to the fact that they try to regionalize teams to reduce travel and such (the D2 playoffs are truly regionalized), but this causes a lot of conference overlap and it stinks. I think the teams should all be ranked and played out that way rather than taking travel into account.
