UCA by 3 TDs. This shouldn't be that close for very long

Sagarin ratings would have us by 15.......last two trips by Lions to Conway the Bears won by 5 and lost by a very ugly 27 (not that close)........last three at Hammond were a Bear win by 45, Lions by 17 and Bears by 20...........I just know that every game I have seen that we won I have been wanting another score just to make sure.........

Hope huggy is right..........

http://www.lionsports.net/news/2017/9/10/football-bethune-cookman-outlasts-lions-28-23.aspx?path=football

SLU fell to Bethune-Cookman last week by 28-23 as the visitors scored 14 in Q1 and in Q2. BC pulled an upset as Lions were favored by 13. BC is from the Mid-eastern Confernec of which NC A&T is the current highest rated team...BC would be about a 10 point favorite over Florida A&M for those who keep up with sports in Arkansas.

They fell on the road to the Ragin Cajuns 51-48 in Game 1 and tied at 35 at half. Lafayette was favored by 17 and escaped with their life.

The biggest lesson from this is that favored or not, the game has to won. Lafayette would be a BIG regional matchup with lots of history dating way back........BC probably did not see the level of excitement........UCA will as this is conference opener after a disappointing home loss ....plus CC played at SLU before Troy.........our advantage is playing on road not new and we usually play well away......road to playoffs starts now for sure..........SLU always has good athletes and lots of speed......... as usual they have a SEC size o-line.......some transfers from places like Texas A&M, Utah, South Carolina, Purdue .at least did not see a former starting QB for Oregon.........this will not be Murray.........they have Nicholls, SHS and McNeese later so this may be a make or break game for them.........

Lions avg 6.7 per rush and held BC to only 3.4............total rushing was 198 v 128....need to stop the run...........however, they managed only 98 yards passing with three INTs vs 354. Kickoff returns avg 31+.punerer avg 41+.....made 3/3 Fgs...... .we need good special teams play.............each team was 4/4 in red zone..........only 4/12 3rd down conversions vs 4/13......QB Donovan Isom (6'5, 245) had 86 of 198 rushing yards.

Ran for 343 vs RCs and gave up 201........passed for 171 v 162......gave up 57 yds per KO return and two TDs......both teams 100% in red zone......Lions 10/17 on 3rd down.........

Hello Bear Fans from Lion Land. Isom is our back up QB. Lorenzo Nunez our starter got hurt on final play of UL game. Nothing serious he just couldn't practice all week and wasn't good enough to go yet last Saturday. We looked like two different teams the last two weeks. With Nunez our offense looked awesome. Last week we couldn't move the ball. It is obvious if he is healthy and can play we are a contender in this league. Without him we are a 5 to 6 win team. But I guess that is everybody in our league. Your starter goes down you can really struggle.

Lions are probably as talented as we have been since 2013 and our backs our against the wall. The way our league is now with 9 conference games and the league being as weak perception wise (or fact) as it is 7-4 isn't getting you in as at large. The Bears saw that in 2015 and we saw it last year. So we can only lose 1 more if we don't win league to possibly get an at large at 8-3. Hopefully it is a great game.

Saw that about Nunez. That's a shame...it would have been fun to see him compete against us.

The league is weaker than others, but it's definitely on the rise. ACU has the winningest D2 football coach in the last decade and a brand new stadium, so it's reasonable to assume they will be contenders quickly. HBU is getting better and Lamar has a lot of money to spend. The LA schools seem to be trending up as well with the exception in McNeese, but they shouldn't be down long.

Only exception is SFA, which, not to be hateful, doesn't bother me to see down.

Looking at the SLULionfans forum they seem to all respect the Bears as we
do the Lions.

One thing they all agree on is they hate the STRIPES...

That's great...get to play SELA with all their weapons available. Looking forward
to another stellar battle between these two programs.
