Lurker,

I know having a kid do all that work on the football team during the year and not getting to play right away is tough. I've got one at the high school level that is going through the same thing. But I can tell you from watching this coaching staff that he will be better for it and coach always plays those who put in the effort. I mean we used 8 rushers and 10 receivers last game plus we had many linemen rotate in and out constantly. Have faith in this staff. They don't waste talent or they would not have wanted your son.

My family tailgates. Your description sounds like mine. LOL. You and the fam are welcome to join us. It's not an intricate high tech tailgate but there will be hot dogs, hamburgers, music, drinks and games. PM me and I will give you details. We tailgate next to a couple other players families. Makes for great discussions.

Sounds like a plan and will do. Personally, I am glad he redshirted. He has been working out hard and added about 21 lbs. of mostly muscle. He had dropped down to 270 when committed to West Point and was only 17 so an extra year in the weight room will and has done wonders for him. He is also getting a year of practice against the ones. I had hoped they would redshirt him from the beginning and am glad they did!

Family day, good weather, no D-1 in-state competition, top 12 matchup...recipe for a record crowd is there. Hope we can deliver.

I was at the game in 2012 when Sammy was #2, and we had a dramatic 4th Q comeback for the win. 10k+, but the best part about it was the engagement of the crowd. It was an electric atmosphere. I think it will happen again Saturday and we'll top 12k.

"Jeremiah Briscoe threw for 305 yards and 3 TDs in the win against Nicholls, giving him his 15th 300-yard passing game of his career. "

We know the Nicholls game results and are still scratching our heads whether Baylor and Texas A&M are not very good (ie, Nicholls looked pretty good in these games) or Nicholls had a disaster game vs Sam or whether Sam is really just that good. Maybe all three.

The Sam vs then #7 Richmond (now #15) game might be more informative. Note that the Spiders in addition to the 48-34 loss to BearKats lost last week to Elon by 36-33 and have wins over #227 Howard (68-21) and #192 Colgate (20-17). Not sure how they get to #15. At least our loss was to FBS #24 K-State with wins over #219 Murray State and #188 SLU.

Besides Richmond (pretty impressive win) and Nicholls State, Sam beat #2111 Prairie View (who was whalloped much worse by Nicholls).

Some game stats from Richmond game (admitted first game for each):

Richmond/SHS

TOP: 33/27
3rd down conversions: 7-17/4-13
Place kicks: 4-6/6-9
Punts: 31/37
Penalties: 9-139/5-46
Rush/Net Rush: 168-106/301-272
Passing: 36-56-2-546/20-37-1-411
Plays: 89/74
Sack/TFL: 4-0/7-4

Sam presents in my opinion a unique challenge. Their quick passing game gives
your frontline guys little time to put any pressure on the QB...and in turn puts
an enormous challenge on your secondary not only to defend but to make tackles
after the catch and have no busted coverages like last year.

The Bears will need to keep this one close early, control the time of possession
and Keep Briscoe and the Sam offense sitting on the bench drinking Gatoraid.

Bears 39
Sam 37

Agree with foot, keep it close & keep Sams offense on the sideline by controlling clock by running the ball. HH needs this win to polish his career at UCA, would love for him to keep 7-8 times on those option reads if it's there to keep em honest. Huge game, pulling for the Bears

At the game. It is a sellout! Friends of ours were turned away at the gate.
