I hope the bears don't take this one for granted. Every game is a championship game for the rest of the season

They should be ready to go at home on the STRIPES.
The Sam hangover should be gone by then.

Playing their former coach and the conf. title on the line will be a big motivation
for the Bears......

I would say 90% of this team doesn't even know coach Conque. The few fifth year seniors would be the only ones. I hope the motivation is the home crowd and another chance to get a win. Just find a way to win it and get to the next one!

Just like every game...SFA will present a challenge for the Bears. UCA has
a big ole bullseye on their back and will get the best shot everyone on the
remaining schedule has to offer.
Looking forward to this one as I do all the games when the BEARS play...

I would suspect the Bears will be ready to shake off the performance in Houston. I've been hearing practices are a lot more enthusiastic and focused this week.

SFA has a soft front 7, so it's not going to be the test we need for our O-line, but they need to be ready nonetheless. I'm hoping our inability to establish the run against HBU was an exception and not the rule. We ran well against K-state and SELA, had explosive runs against Sammy, but in the last two weeks, running between the tackles has proven difficult. Interested to see how that plays out Saturday.

Looking at the stats of the Battle of the Piney Woods, SHSU dominated every stat line except turnovers... a la UCA v Samford in 2016, but Sammy pulled it out anyway.

I predict the defense simply overwhelms SFA. However, Conque will have some wrinkles and may gash us somewhere. We've beaten every SFA team by double digits since he took over, so you know he is going to throw everything at us. SFA strikes early, but we answer and take over. Campbell keeps the pedal to the metal and we roll...UCA 45 - SFA 10

It's hard to run when the opponent loads the box and brings the safeties down
hill. The Bears need to throw vertical routes ala Sam Houston and keep pressure
on the secondary. I don't look for SFA to play much press man coverage. I think
they will play cover 2 and make us earn our points...which is what CC wants anyway.

They don't even have a game thread on The Sawmill. Their fans have given up.

Just run the ball and mix a few passes in to keep them honest. That's what we did.

HBU didn't load the box the whole game, especially on 2nd and longs and 3rd downs.

Conque will play cover 2 and mix in a healthy amount of blitzes. Again, interested to see if we can run and exploit the middle if this is what they do.
