Demon Stats 2017

L - @La Tech , 24-52
L - @ Grambling State, 10-23 (FCS #17)
W - Lamar, 35-28
L - Southeastern, 20-49
L - @ Nicholls State, 10-14 (FCS #20)
L - @ Sam Houston State, 36-40 (FCS #7)

La Tech has Ws over NWS, Western Kentucky and South Alabama and one point losses @South Carolina and @UAB.

Demons probably the best 5 loss team in all of D1............after UCA they finish @HBU, then ACU, @McNeese State and SFA at home.

@Nicholls State

Colonels scored with 3:54 to go after a 8 play 40 yd drive........Nicholls had punted with 9:02 to NWS 1 ....Demons could not move ball and punted to NWS40 with 7:29. Colonels then scored TD after a 3rd and 17 reception to 16 and a personal foul penalty to 4. demons has two more possessions but could get nothing going.

NWS/NSU

First downs: 15/19
Rush: 115/181
Pass: 10-28-1-87/12-27-1-145
Total: 202/336
Fumbles: 0-2/2-1
Punts: 9-41.8/7-36.0
3rd: 5-16/7-18
Sacks: 4-18/2-8

@SHS

Led 24-7 in Q2 and hung on to 27-21 lead at H2 after SHS scored with 2:52 left and demons took KO down to kick 40 yd FG. Pushed lead out to 33-21 in early Q3 and then 38-28 at end of Q3..........then SHS slowly crawled back into the lead with a 70 yard Briscoe to Davion Davis bomb and a 1 yd Corey Avery run with 1:04 to go to cap a 96 yard drive with a 64 pass completion by the Kats' Nathan Stewart.

NWS/SHS

First downs: 22/26
Rush: 297/107
Pass: 22-43-0-221/33-57-2-509
Total: 518/616
Fumbles: 0-0/1-1
Punts: 10-37.6/6-41.5
3rd: 3-17/8-16
Sacks: 1-3/2-7

NWS had 5.5 TFL

Clay Holgerson, 21-36-207 and 2 TDs passing
Chris Jones, 12-156 rushing and Jared West 4/77
6 receivers had at least 3 catches
3-3 FGs from 31, 40 and 44

J. D. Almond is QB with most reps but played little vs SHS.

"The Demons' Purple Swarm defense, undaunted by ninth-ranked Sam Houston State's powerful offense, came up with three turnovers and stopped two fourth-down tries."

"But Sam Houston's ability to make long plays in the passing game did in the Demons."

""It's terrible," said NSU's leading tackler (7), linebacker Nick Pierotti. "You have the lead with two minutes left, and they're on their 4-yard line. One big play. Gotta stop big plays. Gotta finish. That's what it comes down to. "

Gonna have to buckle it up and play good ball.

They seem to be playing really well right now.

To win this the way we should:

1. Hayden plays smarter. Make the big plays, but don't force anything. If it is first down, throw the ball away if everyone is covered. Or tuck and run. Don't force a throw that could turn into a turnover.

2. Get the run game going between the tackles.

3. Defense cannot give up the big plays. They need to continue to step up big like they do when it is critical.

I think this is a 2-3 score win for us.

UCA - 38
NWS - 17

The Demons may be 1-3, 1-5 but anytime you are a 33 point dog and get beat
by 4 late in the 4th qtr you have probably figured some things out. NWS will
be ready for the Bears without a doubt...but recent history tells me UCA always
seems to play well on the Demons home turf...

Bears 41
Demons 20

Lightning delays could be momentum killers.

Last two possessions were what we need............good execution to reward the defense for two great stops........good to see a rushing TD inside 5.......Blackman bulled his way in from 2.....defense needs 3 and out to start H2......

Like BMB, the NWS MB is always very good..........great sound in radio background.......

UCA/NWS
FDs 13/9
Rush 24-136/21-59
Pass 7-13-219-1/7-15-138-0
Total 37-355/36-197

Gordon 4/170/2 TDs
Ponder 2 punts avg 55 with long of 78
Blackman 10-47-1
Crossley 9-35

Each team has one TO
