Hate seeing Coach Campbell leave. Knew he was being considered for other jobs, especially the South Alabama position, but still didn’t think he would leave at this time. But I wish him the best of luck. He did a fantastic job for us and got us to a national playoff seed in only 4 seasons.

Moving on, obviously Nathan Brown will get a hard, serious look at HC job as he should. Another name to keep your eye on has to be Todd Cooley at Delta State. Obvious Teague connection there, born and raised in Arkansas, plus he graduated from ATU. Has also made the DII playoffs in two of his 5 seasons at Delta State.

Let’s also remember back to Steve Campbell’s introductory press conference four years ago where Teague mentioned how many coaches were interested in this job. It’s a coveted job, and will garner a lot of interest.

Will be an interesting couple of days this coming week. Will be interested to see where this goes.

I thought for sure that South Alabama had settled on another coach...
Hate to see Coach Campbell go but it is what it is. He did a tremendous job
at Central Arkansas and will reap the benefits of his hard work.

I would imagine that Coach Stewart will go with him as well and probably
Coach Brown and a few of the other assistants to boot.

Dr. Brad Teague will make a good choice for the next head man...he always
does. Should be no shortage of coaches lining up to apply for this job.

Would be surprised if Nathan Brown gets serious consideration. Not that he isn’t a fine coach with loads of potential, but he has no head coaching experience. I think that will be his biggest shortcoming.
However, we will get a lot of qualified applicants. With UCA’s program, administration and tradition, the Bears will get very good coach.

Anybody know the salary differences between UCA and South Alabama? I would imagine there's a BIG difference.

Have seen a couple recruits today announce via twitter that they are committing to us. Interesting to note because of our HC situation. Maybe they know something we don’t and have been told something we haven’t, which would have to be that a new HC will be announced pretty shortly.

But who knows, purely speculation on my part at this point. Will be an interesting couple of days and will need to get on it fast. In Teague we trust!

I know it's extremely early in the process, but are there any names being
mentioned in association with the opening at UCA?

I'm sure Dr. Teague had to know with Campbell's success that he would not
be around for very long and has a pretty good list of guys that he would be
interested in.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Teague had to have known this was more than likely going to happen eventually. And knowing Campbell, he probably gave Teague a heads up that this may be happening so he would have time to begin the process to find someone else. Campbell isn’t the type to just walk out and leave us in a bind like ole Clint Conqueror did.

Have to wonder about Nathan Brown though. I know he loves it here obviously, but if Campbell offers him the OC job at an FBS school, that’s quite the pay raise and a great job for someone as young as he is. But I don’t know if it’d be enough to lure him away from Arkansas, he’s a Central Arkansas guy through and through.

I agree with that, but there are no guarantees that the new coach will retain
Nathan as the OC...or at all. He could be in a tough spot along with the other
assistants. Not a good thing to lose your job at Christmas.

Someone we should def look into is Brett Gilliland at West Alabama, he came from Georgia Southern as Recruiting Coordinator, he came there from GA Tech, West Al won the GSC this season and was #1 seed in Region 2. They have had several guys in the NFL, they have won more conference games the past two seasons than they ever have. He is a young guy with a Championship Ring from every leve, FBS, FCS, D2. He is an up and comer that has done really well. He should at least get some consideration, they run an offense very similar to what we do, and would prob keep Nathan on staff, he is reigning Gulf South Conference coach of the year.
Def a guy we should look at.

Any rumors to report so far on the coach search? Surely with all of our “sources” one of us has something to report

Nick Saban- turned us down because he was afraid to ruin our record.
Ed Orgeron- came in for an interview but we couldn't understand what he was saying...
Houston Nutt- drove up to the stadium but thought he saw an airplane with a banner fly over so he just left.
Mike Norvell- Called to see if we would let him coach both teams...um, no.
Bear Bryant- won't return any calls...through phone or psychic medium.
Kevin Kelley- couldn't be reached for contact because he's already scheming for next year's 4th down plays.

No other names come to mind.

I would think that the search would have to include some of the successful Division II coaches in our area. One that stands out to me is Scott Maxfield who is currently at HSU in Arkadelphia. He has won a ton of games in his time at HSU. He seems to be very similar to coach Cambell in some aspects. I am not sure though, just a thought.

What do you all think?
