Maybe it's time for UCA to implement a hiring mandate that no one with any affiliation to UCA can be hired in the administration department. Hire nothing but total strangers outside the Arkansas/UCA circle. They, the strangers, would have no allegiance to no one and possibly could move this university forward without blackeyes and allegations being levied against them.

It's worth a try. What we got isn't working, at least in the eyes of the public.

Maybe I'm being naive, but I see this as more an issue for Baker than UCA as a whole. It seems like it was his outside dealings that are the issue at hand. I'm sure he was "asked" to step down (or he wisely chose to do so before being "asked").

It's called vetting Josh. In this case, it appears it wasn't done very well.

Agreed! However, I understand Courtway's desire to hire him (someone with influence in the legislature to try and get us more money). I guess Courtway took him at his word, when he should have done a little more digging.

So is Baker guilty by association? I guess I am not clear on what he did.

All of this came to light after the Judge Maggio situation and a wrongful death case in his court against a Greenbrier nursing home, where Maggio reduced the awarded damages.

It appears Gilbert may have been involved somehow in setting up PACs for an individual to give money to Maggio's campaign.

Gilbert seems to be the missing link to connect all the dots between the donor/PACs, the lawyer who set up the PACs, and the individuals listed as officers on some of the PACs.

ArkDemGaz had articles about the situation on Wednesday/Thursday.

Arkansas Times and Blue Hog Report have done some reporting as well.

And now, the UCA bashing begins.

Apparently he has now been hired as an assistant professor in the Music Department...? I'm confused...I sure hope there was a position open and one wasn't created for him. #-o

He was a music professor when I attended UCA. He was very good engaging students in his classroom.
