This has been a source of confusion for me for a number of years.
Back in the day when I played High school football you had to win your
conference to make the state playoffs...now, it seems that all you need is
to have a team. At least four teams from each district make the tourney now
and sometimes five. Teams with a .500 record and sometimes a losing record
are put in the playoffs. I'm pretty sure there are 3-7 teams in this year.
These teams are #5 seeds and play #2 seeds who are usually at least 3 hours
away. With an increased emphasis on safety and travel expense why does this
continue to happen? It serves no purpose other than to create a little money
for the AAA. It puts our kids at risk for more injuries...and also the fans who
travel long distances to watch the games.

7A gets 12 of 16 into playoffs.................it seems like a feel good thing for coaches and players to say they were in the playoffs.......... there is virtually no chance a 5th or 6th seed will win 7A...at least they have the budgets for the travel that really pinches smaller schools..........link to AAA football playoff page...........enjoy untangling the rules........

I think 7A should stay that way. With that many kids on a team, anything can happen. They should probably phase it out for 2A/3A though.

I think I heard Conway High has 150+ players on the team with nearly 60 seniors. Imagine being a sophomore or even a junior and hearing that news. UGH.

Is it time to split into TWO teams?

I mean they already have:

Sophomore team
JV team
Varsity team

Just so many!

Sounds like a pretty solid program...….Conway is a the 4th largest school at about 2130.....the two Springdale schools are #1 and #2 each over 2400 with the Bulldogs the largest....(and coached by a former UCA star QB.....seems like all UCA QBs have been true stars the past 30 years...) ….

Cabot is #3 at 2370 and Fayetteville is #5 at 2120......Bryant is #6 and the only other >2000....complete list at...

Looks Like Bryant opens 2019 season on 8/20 at home vs PA.....
