BUMP!

OK Bear fans time to step up!

We are just coming off a great football season, women's BB is off to a great start with wins over SEC and Big Ten teams, men's BB is VASTLY improved over last year.

I know it is Christmas time and funds may be tight but the time is now for Bear Nation to step up. The football coaches, in particular the asst. Coaches, have earned bonuses this year. The funds will have to come from the Purple Circle and we Need your help so a great staff can be rewarded and maybe keep most or all of them.

Please, whether you are a member or not, contact Brad Teague and ask how you can help. NO amount it too big or too small. Send what you can.

Recruiting is in full swing. Recruiting is expensive. Let's keep this going and build on it.

Dig deep and GO BEARS!!!

Are the bonuses a set amount or just what ever the Purple Circle can handle?
They are all very deserving.

Just a question. I know UCA has a general endowment fund. Is there also an endowment fund set up for athletics, or is that even allowed? The reason I ask is I would rather my money keep on giving year after year on interest instead of a once they get it they spend it and its gone. I don't know if anyone here is knowledgeable on such things but figured I'd ask. And of course if they don't what is the best avenue to donate to athletics? Purple Circle or directly to the university?

As a matter of fact, my wife and I set up a scholarship fund for athletic scholarships two years ago. The earnings from the fund go to athletic scholarships only which frees up other athletic earmarked funds (Purple Circle for example) to be used for other needs.

The name of the fund is "The Alumni Athletic Scholarship Fund" (or something like that) and can be added to by anyone. Just contact Brad or Darrell and they can help.

Also, Foot and his crew have a scholarship fund ( where the tailgate funds go) and I would guess you could add to that one also.

You are correct in your thought as the more funds we could have "endowed" for athletics the stronger our program would become.

Also, funds contributed to the Purple Circle Club are designated for the athletic teams but are held and administered by the UCA Foundation and are audited by a CPA.

Be sure and give to the UCA Foundation for the Purple Circle Club. Frankly foundations allow funds to bypass the "state" money rules which hinders flexibility of use. Nothing odd or suspscious about that...there is a reason the Razorback Foundation exists outside the university. As 75 said, the funds are audited every year by a very good CPA firm. Also, the invested money is managed by one of the most well respected money mangers in the region.

I would guess Brad would love to have endowment funds to live off of...right now he has rent to pay, so to speak.

Data on "endowed funds" at the UCAF is at:

http://uca.edu/giving/endowed-giving/

There is a $10,000 minimum but my guess is that UCAF would open at lower if their are reasnable expectations to get to $10K pertty quick. These funds are not cheap to manage so they ned to have some minimum balances.

Yes we do 75...It's the Helton-Osburn-Spencer Scholarship. Anyone can put money
in the scholarship. At the moment we have a little over $30,000 . That number
needs to go to $100,000, so anyone interested in giving...this is another option.

It is an endowed athletic scholarship.

There may be a$10,000 minimum to start a scholarship fund but you can add ANY amount to an existing one.

I think the minimum to be an endowed scholarship is $25,000.
