Tip at 5:30pm McNeese State (8-9/3-3) UCA (12-5/5-1) Don't let the Cowgirls record fool you.......they always seem to play a great game at the FC. Besides they are coming off a 57-53 loss to SLC-leading Lamar on Saturday and the prior Saturday beat Sam Houston State by 62-58. If that is not enough, they beat Ole Miss and Houston and only lost by 9 to Vandy and by 2 to La Tech. SLC only stats McNeese avg 63 and gives up 58 while UCA tallies 61 and allows 53. Pretty even. UCA v MSU FGs: 42% v37% FG defense: 39% v 41% 3s: 35% v 32% 3s defense: 37% v 28%...probably key to the game.... FTs: 66% v 76%...need to keep them off the line.... Rebs: 36 v32 Reb margin: +3 v <10> ...big opportunity for SBs TOs: 15 v 10 ....SBs need to even out TOs TO margin: +3 v +9 Once again Ashlyn Baggtett will be a handful as she is #2 SLC in scoring at 22 (plus 79% FTs and 45% 3s) , just ahead of Herbert at 21 (71% FTs). Duever's 14 ppg (74% FTs) compares well to Caitlin Baggett's 10 ppg (75% FTs). Herbert and Duever avg 19 combined rebs while Arianna James leads MSU at 7. Gowans leads UCA at 42% for 3s....Ceciilia Okoye hits 60% FGs.... This should be a doozy of a game..... SBs need to get a win as it does not get any easier on Saturday against Lamar. FINAL http://www.ucasports.com/news/2013/1/24/WBB_0124135947.aspx McNeese 34-43=77 (9-9/4-3) UCA 32-29=61 (12-6/5-2) UCA v MSU Q1: 8-22 Q2: 24-12 Q3: 17-25 Q4: 12-18 Cowgirls put 5 in double figures as Baggett sisters tally 32....MSU 48 PIP vs 34 for UCA and that is pretty much it...MSU simply made 8 more FGs than did SBs....sounds like some defensive issue ...McNeese also had only 7 TOs.....also won fast break points by 20-4.... UCA v MSU FGs: 39% v 50% 3s: 20% v 18% FTs: 83% v 77% Rebs: 39 v 33 TOs: 14 v 7 Great game by Desiree Rogers with 23/5 game and only 2 TOs.. Herbert was 14/12 and Duever was 14/11... At least a good crowd of 2500+..... Lamar game on Sat is now huge.... |
