FOLLOWING INCREDIBLE FOUR-YEAR RUN, SUGAR BEAR SENIORS BID FAREWELL TO FARRIS CENTER
3/7/2013 1:04:00 PM

Since stepping foot on campus in 2009, this year's collection of Sugar Bear seniors has put together an astonishing list of accomplishments, many of them coming on their home court in the Farris Center. Coming into a program that had gone just 13-45 in the two seasons before their arrival, they wasted no time in making their mark as they led a highly improbable turnaround and vaulted Central Arkansas women's basketball onto the national scene.

Saying they wasted no time making their mark is not an exercise in hyperbole. In their very first game at the Farris Center, on Nov. 18, 2009, they re-wrote record books as they dropped a Southland Conference record-tying 119 points in a 60-point win over Ecclesia.

They have hardly slowed down since, winning more than 80 games in all, stringing together what was the nation's third-longest home winning streak, winning nearly 85 percent of their games at the Farris Center and more than two-thirds of their conference games...

The only thing I can keep stressing is GET THERE EARLY on Saturday! The 5 will be recognized prior to the starting lineups of the game, so it would be great if the house was full as early as possible.

HERBERT'S HISTORIC CAREER IN CONWAY CULMINATES SATURDAY

SUGAR BEARS SENIOR DAY 2013
SATURDAY, MARCH 9
VS. ORAL ROBERTS - 2PM
Senior Recognition to be held before lineup introductions
2013 Seniors: Megan Herbert, Britney Gowans, Chantel Moss, Desiree' Rogers & Tracey Parsons

Words.

How do you put into words the career of Megan Herbert at the University of Central Arkansas, one of the all-time great careers in college basketball? How do you encapsulate it in one piece of writing?

You don't, really.

For more than 120 games over the past four years, on a daily basis it has been a spectacle that has defied description. To fully appreciate the body of work, it is something that must have been experienced – seen, heard, felt. Words alone are inadequate.

Thankfully, there are also numbers.

Lots and lots of numbers...

I wish the last home game could have been a win. These seniors are a special group. I appreciate what you have done for the stature of our women's program and what you have accomplished in the classroom as well. You define what a "student athlete" should be. Thank you

Not the season we'd hoped for for the seniors for sure.
I hated that the most dominant Sugar Bear I've seen play had to go out that way at home.
