A win tonight will get the Sugarbears a double-bye in the SLC Tournament!

While I want the Sugarbears to get one since the SLC tourney is set up that way, I'm not a big double-bye fan.

I'm OK with teams earning a single bye based on in-conference success, but to me, a double bye reeks of a conference trying to rig the game in favor of a particular team (or teams). Just my two cents.

To a certain extent I agree with you. However, I understand why the conference made the move. As a mid major (and a small fish in the mid major pond at that) the conference felt it best to get their two highest seeds a favorable track to the title game. We've seen the Sugar Bears get ousted by low seeds in the first round and can sympathize.

I have to look at the issue through the eyes of the conference and its best interest. Consider for example the following hypothetical scenario:
The conference has a few teams inching up RPI and KenPom like rating scales. The conference is projected to receive a 13 or 14 seed. A loss by the top seed sends the conference to a 16 seed and it is back to one and done. The whole conference, and it's perception in the world of college basketball is improved, possibly decreasing the frequency of 16 v 1 games.

Just my $0.02

I understand the intent, but the conference selects the auto-bid team based on whatever criteria they desire. I'm pretty sure no tournament is required at all - it isn't in volleyball. If the tournament is set up to make sure the top team makes it to the dance, why not forgo the tournament entirely and just send the regular season champion?

Sugarbears find themselves trailing 46-47 to Nicholls in the Farris Center to start the 4th Q!

Nicholls able to do whatever they want to and the ref lets them...they called an over and back on us when the ball clearly changed trajectory mid pass before we touched it! CRAZY!

The first points (by either team) of the 4th Q come with 4:50 left in the game as UCA gets an offensive rebound put back to take a 48-47 lead!

NSU 12-22-13-4=51 (7-10/9-18)
UCA 20-13-13-10=56 (15-2/25-3)

Congrats to SBs for record season D1 wins......... how about only 4 points in Q4 and 17 fo H2? Good to be able to play tough defense when offense is not on fire.....

41% vs 36% FGs.........24% vs 25% 3s........60% vs 71% FTs.....poor 3s but 48% for 2-pt FGs.....40 v35 rebs with 13 o-rebs......14 assists but 17 TOs while NSU had 15.....

Mullins came through big with 18/4/5 night......no one else in doubles but Watts was 8/7 while Proffitt was 9/4 and Watkins 7/4/6.........Watts layup with 2 ticks was the only score in the last 1:53 of the game and a big reb with 11 ticks put the game out of reach........hats off too Nicholls for a fine road game.........hats off to SBs for finding a way to win.......

Let's fill the FC on Sat for both games.......

Coach: Did not play very well....had energy at first but did not meet Colonels when they stepped up intensity..offense was struggling.........not sure why we shoot better on road than at home.......they kept beating us off the dribble.........Mullins did a great job tonight.............Nicholls was very physical and we could not hang onto the ball...........17 TOs is too many......lucky to win the game......

Talk about sweating it out the last few seconds after that steal!

Looking at the conference standings:

ACU has one game left on Saturday: Texas A&M Corpus.
UCA has one game left: McNeese.

ACU has at least a share of the conference title.

ACU survived Corpus last time by 6 points. Hoping for an upset and a BIG UCA win over McNeese! [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o<

JRK said it best, Fill Farris on Saturday. I will be there. BELIEVE that anything is possible! There is a chance we can still win outright!
