Checked out the SFA board. Most of their fans gave credit to UCA as being the best team plus some. Class move there. I think I heard Steve O say on the radio that the TV announcer said the "best" or "strongest" team isn't in the tournament??!! Really? Don't remember which but I'm going to listen to the replay Josh posted to see if I can hear it. Proud of these ladies. Go win the first round! Edit: Ok. First things first. I just listened to the first 30 seconds of some hick broadcaster say SFA is a power defense team while UCA is an offensive team with some defense. WTF??? He has ZERO clue. And it proves out as the game goes on. |

The TV must have been referring to ACU who we split with .....lost by 7 at their place early and won by 10 at our place late.........NCAA RPI has UCA at 82, SFA at 89 and ACU at 108............is this our best ever RPI? By the way.............final Arkansas RPIs....... UALR 48 UCA 82 uaf 174 UAPB 287 A-State 317 Too bad UALR did not get an at large.....surely they will get WNIT bid.........would have been nice to see a UCA v UALR match up this past season........ SBs RPI in other conferences......... AAC - 5th of 11 was 97 (this is UConn's conference) America East - 2nd of 9 was 113 Atlantic Sun - 2nd of 8 was 95 Atlantic 10 - 3rd of 14 was 94 ACC - 10th of 15 was 88 B12 - 8th of 12 was 104 (Texas Tech) Big East - 7th of 12 was 195 Big Sky - 2nd of 12 was 129 Big South - 1st of 10 was 126 B10 - 10th of 14 was 87 (Penn State) Big West - 2nd of 9 was 111 Colonial - 4th of 10 was 125 C-USA - 2nd of 14 was 85 (La Tech's conference) Horizon - 2nd of 10 was 142 Ivy - 3rd of 8 was 110 Metro Atlantic - 2nd of 9 was 109 MAC - 5th of 12 was 96 Mideastern - 21st was 151 MoValley - 3rd of 10 was 166 (Mo State) Mountain West - 3rd of 11 was 99 Northeast - 1st was 181 OVC - 2nd of 12 was 179 Pac-12 - 9th of 12 was 92 (USC) Patriot - 2nd of 10 was 122 SEC - 10th and 14 was 86 (Georgia) Southern - 2nd of 8 was 93 SWAC - 1st was 169 Sunbelt - 2nd of 12 was 91 West Coast - 2nd of 10 was 90 (Gonzaga was #1 at 66) Western Athletic - 1st was 137 Some "name" schools below SBs: 84 - Florida 86 - Georgia 87 - Penn State 92 - USC 94 - Saint Louis 100- SMU 101 - Washington State 104 - Texas tech 105 - Virginia Tech 110 - Colorado 114 - St Mary's 9CA) 115 - Vanderbilt 117 - Clemson 118 - North Carolina 120 - Ole Miss 132 - Alabama 163 - Pittsburgh 164 - TCU 174 - uaf 175 - Houston 190 - Kansas 196 - Nebraska 210 - Wisconsin 231 - Miami (FL) 250 - Marshall (Matt Daniel's team was 13-17; best win may have been road opener at Illinois) |

UCA vs Texas at Austin UCA 4-16-23-7=50 (26-4) UT 24-24-14-16=78 (24-8) UT 52% vs 32% FGs..........50% vs 38% 3s but not really a factor.......UCA 70% v 66% FTs but Horns got to line 18 to 10........badly out rebounded 35-12........a couple bright spots..........forced 21 TOs (vs 10) and were +7 on points off TO...... 7 steals to 4......more than decent last 3 Qs ............lost PIP by 40-18............sounds like UT came out and whacked us and before we recovered they were up 20+....Maggie still had 17 and Taylor an excellent 14/7........Kierra a solid 6/5......needed more from the rest.... Great season for our SBs.......UT is more than pretty good especially at home........becoming a respectable mid major program but not quite there yet......lots of progress by this group........Go SugarBears!! |

SBs opponents in post-season NCAAs - X - Texas..........beats 6th seed NC State by 84-80 in Round 2....loses 77-66 to Stanford in Sweet 16 X - Texas A&M.....defeats 12 seed Penn by 63-61 in Round 1........falls 75-43 to 9 seed UCLA in Rd 2 WNIT - X - ACU......defeated Ok State 66-56 at Stillwater in Round 1 ......in spite of a furious Q4 rally ACU falls 59-52 to SMU in Round 2 Rundown of how 14 seeds fared - # before team is RPI-% after the point spread is ratio of point spread divided by RPI differential: 62 Bucknell fell to 16 Maryland by 42 (91%) 65 Montana State fell to 10 Washington by 28 (51%) 82 UCA fell to 13 Texas by 28 (41%) 59 Western Illinois fell to 12 Florida State by 21 (47%) By this measure the SugarBears did better than the other 14 seeds. Still counts as a loss. |

UCA vs Williams Baptist WBU 14-8-7-2=31 (4-4) UCA 25-20-20-12=77 (4-2) WBU played the proper guest tonight. We needed this after the Lady Vols........ and before Texas A&M. Stats do not mean much in mismatches like this.....except for 70% FTs and 22% 3s.........12 TOs is too many............Baudoin had 17 and Sells 12......11 SBs scored........ |
