I'll probably go back and redo the Matt Warren version. I've now realized that as they say "less is more." This one looks a lot better to me.

I'll admit I'm "borrowing" some of your ideas a little.
Still have no idea how you made the background for your last batch though.

lol...I'm sure I borrowed the ideas from somebody else in the first place. The best thing to do for backgrounds is just to "play" with brushes and layers and layer effects. Use your filters.

I make lots of stuff and 90% of it I don't even save.



One simple thing you can do is to duplicate your "cuts" and put a soft gaussian blur on the back one. Makes the cuts look less like they are a sticker stuck on the background. If that makes any sense.
