Well. I must say the defense showed up the last game.

Switched out on picks.

Stayed on the ball in the half court defense.

Pressured the dribbler.

Watching a few games before that there was none of that. I guess a little defense along with the three point rain fest makes the difference. Of course LR should be 1-8 or whatever on the year, but it was good to see ball handlers pressing the issue. I would love to see more of play like that!

@Morehead State

UCA 20-58-16=94 (6-6)
MSU 34-44-20=98

Fall behind 14 and make it hard on yourself............shot 27% FG % in H1............MSU shot 48%.....nevertheless Bears made a furious comeback in H2 to tie at the buzzer to force OT.......Bears committed 19 TOs (ugh) but Morehead upped that with 28 of their own (28 TOs in a single game.....good grief)......each tem also had 10+ steals............not exactly two teams handling the ball well...........

UCa/MSU

FGs: 45% vs 51%
3s: 30% vs 36%
FTs: 64% v 81%
Rebs: 33 v 47
TOs: 19 v 28

Bears won points in paint by 34-32 and pints off To by a whopping 25-15..........and 2nd chance points by 19-9...........on the other hand we shot 33 3s and made 10............with all that went on in the stats one is really telling...........Bears made only 14/22 FTs........missed more than enough to win the game...................MSU was 30/37 (always suspect when home team should so many FTs)............

Jordan Howard continue his scoring spree with 32/2/6 (including 8 in OT) .........Kamba 19/9/1......Unruh 10/5/2....7 others scored including Koval with 2 of his 6 to tie in regulation at the buzzer.........

Really was hoping Bears would pull off the season sweep.....now to Oregon for 10pm central tip on Wednesday night........

@Oregon

UCA 40-42=82 (6-7)
UO 55-41=96

Bears led by 5 early then had a cold spell and Ducks built a 10-12 pint lead it basically wen between 8-18 the rest of the way. Battled hard and kept mounting comebacks but UO just too much inside as Ducks outscored Bears by 44-28 in paint....

Howard lit them up with 35 points on 12-17 FGs and 8-9 3s!!! Tied arena record for points scored and set record for 3s made.

Kamba was 14/6..........Unruh 9/4......Koval 8/5......

UCA/UO

FGs: 48% v 62%
3s: 50% v 60%
FTs: 75% v 63%
Rebs: 25 v 34
TOs: 12 v 11

Now to get home and ready for SLC opener vs TAMCC at Farris Center in 12/28......SFA showed at LSU and Mizzou this past week this will be a chore to win SLC this year......

Coach: Not real happy with our defense.....needs more commitment........the 18-0 run did us in......gave up 8 points in one quick sequence with not getting rebounds.....proud of them battling back.............Howard recognized in H2 UO was focused on him and he wisely got the ball to teammates.....one of the better guards in US.........NBA scouts know him..........even UO police officer mentioned how much fun Howard is to watch..........UO won this game even thought we did not play well enough...........we should be 9-4 now........have to learn from that for conference......start SLC play with two at home vs TAMCC and SLU...........

@Sam Houston State

UCA 39-37=76 (1-2/7-9)
SHS 36-46=82

UCA/SHS

FGs: 40% v 44%
3s: 37% v 35%
FTs: 80% v 61%
Rebs: 40 v 44
TOs: 9 v 9

Bears starting 5 wins 62-43 but bench gives it all up and more losing 14-39......two Kats off the bench had 29 in total......Kats win 2nd chance +8 and PIP +12....Bears led 49-39 with 15:02 to go then lead slowly bled away........trailed by only 2 at 4:40 then let lead widen to 8 the fought back to be 3 down and just could not get a key shot........

Howard led with 25/3.........Unruh had a double double at 10/11/6............Schmidt and Kamba each had 11........

Still have to learn to win......the team has to have a floor leader take charge .......this was definitely winnable...goodness we took UCLA at Pauley to OT......

Next up is at Lamar on Sat at 4:30pm

starting to wonder if the tide is ever going to turn. I think we've had 2nd half leads in all but about 3 losses this year.

@Lamar

UCA 39-41-6-14=100 (2 OTs) (2-2/8-9)
LU 41-39-6-5=91 (2-2/10-7)

Barnburner in Beaumont.......exciting game.....Jordan hit 3 3s and set SLC record..........Deandre Jones gets 2nd triple double in UCA history (who had the other?) ......13/11/11....Howard held to 5 in H1 then finishes with 27/6 day.....

UCA/LU
FGs: 42% 39%
3s: 39% vs 13%
FTs: 38% v 66%
Rebs: 51 v 58
TOs: 13 v 14
PIP: 34 v 50
POTO: 19 v 20
2nd: 10 v 17

5 Bears in double figures......Howard, Jones, Kamba (15/7), Koval(18/4), Unruh (12/9/4)

Coach: So much fun..........three FR got it done in OT as starters fouled out........they were tough enough to win today....Mondesir scored 7 but his defense was big.....Weisbrod of LU (38/11) made some very tough shots today and we defended him pretty well......

Next up is Incarnate Word at Farris Center on Wed at 7pm......nice to be 2-2 in SLC...now need to get to 9-9.....
