Okay, so fine, whatever ... ASU is a basketball giant. We get it, we surrender, go on about your greatness.

Texas Tech played at Stephen F. Austin.
Oklahoma State played at Tulsa.
Georgia Tech played at Chattanooga.
Wake Forest played at UNC Wilmington.
Miami played at Stetson.

If I cared enough to keep looking, I'd find plenty more instances.

I don't see any reason to think that ASU, a middle of the pack Sun Belt team, is too bigtime to do home & homes with schools from other low-profile conferences.

But I'm not an ASU fan, either, so it's not to be expected.

Last time we were drawing well phased out SLC teams.

If being ass makes you feel better you've had a good day.

Just don't bring up playing us again.

The difference is, last time you were drawing well there wasn't an in-state team a couple hours from Jonesboro in the Southland.

That's the draw and what Brady is really concerned about (right. ) - playing an in-state school, not playing a Southland school. The conference affiliation shouldn't have any bearing on it.

It's one thing to pass on a home & home with Sam Houston State - where you're bringing in a team nobody really cares anything about (even though they're pretty good) and going the following year to a place where nobody cares about you; and passing on a home & home with UCA - where there's the wonderful in-state competition angle and you bring in an opponent that will bring some fans and generate local interest and then, on the other side, have a short road trip in an area where a lot of your alumni are and many of your fans can attend.

Okay, you've confused me. Are you implying that it was BRADY that didn't want the home and home with UCA?

No, not at all.

What I'm saying is that if Brady is really about wanting the home-and-home with UCA specifically, then it would still happen regardless of if you guys are drawing well.

Your buddy here is saying that the Wolves are about to go so bigtime that there won't be room for home-and-homes with Southland teams (because evidently that's how it happened before). What I was saying is that – while that could be true for 11 of the Southland teams – regardless of conference affiliation, if Brady really wants the UCA series it would still happen.

The sarcastic "right" and eye-roll smiley was implying that his desire to play UCA is based not so much on some great love of intrastate play like many would like to believe, but more on wanting to squash an in-state rival and produce a clear pecking order before it has the chance to become a pain in his side.

Anyway, no - I was in no way implying Brady didn't want it. I'm sure he does - I just don't believe it's some altruistic motive driving it.

But my main point was that stAte isn't going to take some meteoric rise to a super-elite status where it can't be bothered with home-and-homes with piddly Southland schools (UCA included) ... which is what the other guy was saying.

It may be because UCA offered ASU a three game contract in football a few
years ago. The first two games in Jonesboro and the third one in Little Rock
and ASU said no thanks. What goes around comes around. ASU wants the
hogs to play them in football but when they have a chance to play an instate
school they decline. kinda like the pot calling the kettle black.

Lets not give up, it could happen next year. We both have
an open date on September 24th.

UCA has replaced OK State next year with Houston. Not sure of the date.

Football. I don't believe basketball season starts that early.

This would be awesome, I know that the President made a special trip to ASU to discuss this with them and that Brad has been trying to get them to play us ever since he arrived.

I am pretty certain that ASU contacted UCA and UAPB recently about future FB schedules. Let's hope so. It would be nice to see 40,000 people packed into the stadium for that!
