Bears fall 84-65 at Lamar......played hard and actually again won H2......Ethan Lee had a great 12/7 night...Bears shot well at 48% FGs and 74% FTs although only 4/16 from 3....won rebs.....but stung again by TOs inlcuding 14 LU steals.....

Coach very disappointed with effort and execution in H1.....did not handle LU pressure early and got behind...trailed 52-29 at half...won H2 by 36-32

Keep the faith.....

SFA up next Tuesday on road......

Thought Lamar's video much better than ours but our Livestats is much better...and I'll take Acri anyday calling the game....

Well I'd say ugly........ down 30 in the first half. Way way too careless with the ball. Sloppy and SFA gladly take those turnovers and shoot layups

SFA leads 58-30 at half.......Purple Rage sounds really good in background.....holding on for rebs but down 13 TOs and only 1/7 from 3s and only 3 FTs vs 12 made FTs for Jacks......Bears shooting 54% FGs.....another very deep hole.....I think opponents know we really struggle with press and traps.....

I can't imagine what the mental state of this team is now.
Hope coach doesn't lose them. Awful situation to be in.
Only one way to go from here.

Sugarbears also got hammered...

SFA is really good in 109-58 romp ..Bears shoot 54% FGs and 71% FTs......plus Bears rebounded well.....however, only1/10 for 3s, 34 TOs and only 5/7 for FTs.......SFA had +43 points off TOs and +18 FTs..... at least guards (Martin and Howard) played well with 16 each on about 60% FGs....

Next game in next Monday at HBU.......try again...Huskies lost to Nicholls at Thibadoux tonight by 61-57 and is 1-3/6-8......

Our guys have just got to keep working.....
I will say this about SFA, they are VERY solid from top to bottom, however, I don't think they are as good as they were last year.

The Jacks of last year had a chemistry and were fundamentally as sound as any team I had seen in several years. This teams just out works you...kind of guts it out.

My only hope is that we (UCA) aspires to have a mens program like SFA.

I still contend we have the coach and the staff...just got to get some more players.

"Coach Underwood told me that's the best they've played in a long, long while. Now, we helped them. The only way you learn to play hard is to play teams like that. We'll go study that film, and what our guys are going to see is, we just got out-toughed. out-efforted. We got whipped in every way you can on a basketball court.'

Not sure we have ever lost two ballgames on same day by combined 87 points......while the SFA game was a true blowout I am more concerned about the 36 point debacle the SBs suffered at Lamar.....at least SFA men are really really good and we all knew the Bears are a work in progress.....we just looked out of sync all night and very sloppy passing the ball..... we seemed to avoid driving the paint and trying to get fouls and FTs.....a too often play was making a good rebound then throwing the ball away within one pass.....with effort all this is correctable....on the other hand, the guards had solid offensive games and that is without many FTs....

Go Bears!!

Bears at Houston Baptist

H2 not off to a great start...HBU wins first 4:30 by 13-7 for 23 point lead at 52-29.....

EOH HBU leads 39-22......Zuilhof leads UCA with 7/2 with 3/5 FTs (only Bear to shoot FTs)....Howard and Unruh each have 5.....poor shooting (about 36%)..not getting to line..putting HBU on the line....poor rebounding (down 16 rebs)....execution has to improve.....

Bears trail 29-18 at 4:32 mark after leading 11-8 at 14:18....35% FG% and only 4 FT attempts.....and no O-rebs....TOs Ok at 7-6 but HBU has 13 points off TOs while Bears have 3 and HBU is +11 on FTs....
