FINAL: Bears win 74-72......Bears shot 47% FGs, 40% 3s adn nly 63% FTs...were 5/5 at half and only 14/25 in H2 including missing 6 or 7 in last 2 minutes....Lions only 1/10 from 3..Bears lost rebs by 6 but won TOs by 3......got behind by 7 late in H2 with 9:54 to go but came back with 27-18 finish

Martin and Howard lead with 17 each.....Kamba went 11/5 while Zuilhof was 6/7 with 4 blocks...Millligan was 9/5 with 4 assists....

Coach..good to win last home game....two careless TOs at end of half that let Lions take lead....hit some shots late and not let SELA have a long run.....Milligan played with a lot of energy and solid defense....got key rebs late....pretty pleased today....fantastic crowd today.....Martin was not his normal FT shooting tonight but a coach on the floor today....

Martin.....took care of the ball much better with 14 TOs and only 3 in H2.....the one goal gave him problems today with FTs...the other goal felt fine....

Bears now 2-13/2-24 while Lions drop to 6-9/9-19...

Last three games on road starting Monday....

H2 :34 to play...Bears cling to 71-69 lead and missng key free throws.....

Bears trail SELA 33-31 at half.......back and forth today and Bears led late but mishandled press to let Lions back in lead......playing pretty well overall....even on rebs and TOs...shooting OK at 44% FGs and 100% FTs....only 36% 3s but held SELA to 0%...Lions shot 62% FGs helped by some easy layups early .....Howard leads with 11 points on 50% FGs....

This is a game that is winnable.....

Monty Rowell honored as no seniors on senior day.......on his 34th wedding anniversary......

As bad as the record is this year, the thing that I love about this team is that they have never thrown in the towel and given up.

With the players we have now, an off-season in the weight room and the addition of some more good players, this program will turn around. Now lets go out and finish strong and win these last three.

BTW, Good Job Saturday Bears. =D>

Jim Pickett could play in the low post with his back to the basket as well as anyone I have ever seen. James Dickey will tell u the same thing. If he caught the ball on the block he was going to score or shoot free throws.

On another note related to those posts about the 70's, Joe Couch, John Hutchcraft and some others with UCA connections win the Senior Olympic games every year, competing against teams from all over the country. Hutchcraft can still dunk and he can still talk but only when provoked first by others I am told!!

Bears fall 76-49....Howard leads at 11 and Christensen added 10 on 4/7 shooting.....Zuilhof was 8/6 but had 8 of the team's 14 TOs.....guards were a combined 7/26 while SHS guards were 19/38.......team made only 6 FGs in H2.....Martin did not play tonight....

Trailed only 33-26 at half but Sam goes on 23-0 run to start H2....stats are not terrible except Bears shooting is very poor......about 30% for FGs and 35% for 3s both helped by a late shooting spree......83% FTs....Sam shot 55% FGs....

Coach: Nice job in H1..one of the better halves.....seemed to lose energy at start of H2 when SHS was getting going....game turned on that.....Kamba played point for first time .... Christensen had nice game but still learning college ball.....we are not a hard-nosed team yet.....

H2/1:01 Bears cut deficit to 69-63 with press, forced TOs and making FTs....

H2/4:30 Trail 62-49 ..went nearly four minutes without basket....

H2/8:30: Bears claw back to 57-45......this game can still be won....

Half: Bears shoot 29% and Nicholls 67%...pretty much the story.....Bears have only 5 TOs, lead in o-rebs.....only 1/8 for #s....Milligan has 4/5 so far......

I can't be the only one who is ready for this season to end.

Betting coaches and players are ready for a break and then start working on next year.

FINAL

Nicholls escapes 77-70 after Bears close to 71-69 at 33 to go but just could not get that last steal and had to foul....great comeback....we were down by 15 with 10:00 to go....scored 46 in H2...still shot poorly at 30%% FGs and only 25% 3s while Colonels shot 55%/54%.....75 FTs combined......Bears +9 on o-rebs and only 12 TOs while Nicholls had 22 TOs....+16 on points off TOs....one possession from forcing OT..... these Bears may play sloppy and ragged at times but they never quit....

Kamba a career night at 18/3 while Howard added 16.....Milligan was 8/6/4 and Zuilhof was 7/7..Fiegler did not score but had 6 rebs....

Coach: dug too big of a hole...need to play with the same urgency like we did the last part of the game.....looked late like a good basketball team.....shot horribly again.....keep TOs low and force TOs and you give yourself a chance....play at McNeese like we did at the end tongiht and we can get a road win...

Sunday 1pm at LC.....
