Lost tonight at Northwestern State 86-70.
21 turnovers...not good.

Safe travels to our team headed back to Conway tonight. Will NOT be a good night to be on the road.

Shot and rebounded pretty well but 2 TOs vs 11 is not going to get the job done especially on the road....Howard had 20 (6/7 for 3) and Zuilhof had 9 rebs....

Next three at home vs Sam Houston State, McNeese State and SELA......then finish on the road......they can still get some wins if they protect the ball better and keep playing hard...

Trailed Sam by 40-17 at half.....ugh.......Kats were cruising in H2 and we have been trying to keep up but lose by 70-42..............poor shooting night and 22 TOs.....plus Kats get to line 30 times......Zuilhof had a decent game with 8/7 and Howard led with 13........not going to win many games like that....Kats are however very good....they are 22-5 for good reason.....

Final - McNeese wins 77-60...we should not have taken the steal for a layup as time was running out......Kamba scores 14, Howard 13 and Zuilhof was 9/8..

Coach: Headscratcher as to how we go from good play in H1 to an 18-0 or so run in H2.....31 off TOs ....have to make personnel adjustments to deal with.....overall game not where it needs to be as a team....kids are trying..got to keep working....tough week mon road next week...have to keep form giving in and giving..want to see the effort..SELA will be a challenge for last home game....

2:55 - Cowboys put on a 13-2 run to put this away at 77-53....

7:15- McNeese led 38-33 at half. Bears pulled to 38-37 then Cowboys went on 18-0 run before Bears started fighting back with 14-6 stretch. McNeese leads 64-51 with 7:15 to go. Plenty of time to get back in for a win with really good play.

Average or worse shooting night but the killer is losing TOs by 17-8 and fastbreak points 26-4.

As JRK noted, we played pretty well in the first half, then pulled to within one early in the second half.

Yes, the kids are trying....they are trying hard.

Probably the most disturbing thing for me was that the Cowboys would make a steal and then race back up the floor and were basically shooting layups. We just could not get back.

Finally home game Saturday against Southeastern Louisiana at 4 p.m. .

These kids do play hard and the coaches are coaching hard.

I still believe we are headed in the right direction.

These guys are going to mature physically and emotionally and when we add in the four new guys next year I believe there will be a SIGNIFICANT improvement.

Your right...everyone is playing hard and the coaches are coaching hard.
Fans are not going to like this next statement, but the best thing the new staff did was blow up the roster and start from scratch. Yep, everything hit rock bottom...actually a little below that, but that is what happened. Things are ok.

For the first time in a VERY long time, I feel we are headed in the right direction.

The new guys next year will be a good, solid additions.

Absolutely agree.

We had to tear it down and start over if we were ever going to break out of the horrible cycle we were in both on the court and in the classroom.

Horrible ? Your being kind 75....;)

Don't know this, but if your screen name is any indication, you and I have been following Bear basketball for some time.

I started going to games when the late Don Nixon was the head coach and continued to follow it from Don Dyer, the late Arch Jones, etc.....

Although this is a small thing, it appears to me that one of the BIG things about the program now is that it has some organization about it.

I'm not sure I can explain what I mean by saying that, but I guess I feel it more than I know it. As bad as things have been this season, I am hearing that the kids have bought into what Pennell and his staff are coaching. That is certainly a start.

I hope they can win another game or two to end the year, but if they don't that is ok. I will still be back there with them next year and we will attempt to take another step.

Sorry I got stirred up.... :D

When I got to UCA ( then SCA) we were playing in the "old gym", now the Prince Center, and the coach was Cliff Horton.

Couch, Stephens, Graham, Dickey, TJ, Conny Johnson (a couple years before I was on campus but a dynamite player of the era as was Vernie Harris) , Tabor, Hutchcraft, Farmer, Massarelli, some guy named Harding.....some pretty stout baketball then.....go back a few more years to the teams of Larry Burleson and Tom Davis.....big rivalries in AIC and lots of very good teams...OBU, Henderson, Southern State, Tech, A&M and even Harding, Hendrix and Arkansas College played good BB....AM&N was very good then in some years averaging at or near 100 before 3 pt shots.....

I think Bears beat OBU in last game at The Prince like 73-72 on a shot that dropped through as time expired.....

Not sure I miissed a minute of any home game ...

We will get back to what we expect of Bears BB.....

I started attending games when I was in high school. Heck, I've got to confess, I even attended games at Arkansas Tech for awhile until I saw the light.

The first games I attended were in the early years of the Farris Center. some of the players I remember were Joe Couch, John Hutchcraft, David Farmer, James Dickey, Joel Tabor, just to name a few.

It was a really special time in my life that I got to attend the games regularly. It is a time I will never forget. :D

Let's not forget the late Jim Pickett. Great Bear who passed on much too young.

Jim's brother, John, and I were roommates for several years.

I had Jim listed in my original post, but computer shutdown and I lost the post.
But, YES, very much so.
First of all, VERY correct, lost him way to early.
Jim had a good mid-range shot and could even post up.
I know Dickey and Hutchcraft are in the Hall of Fame....Pickett needs to be in there as well.
