21 turnovers.
Only 17 shots made the entire game?
Sigh.

What happened in H2? Bears only down by one at half.

"I thought we took a step back tonight," said UCA coach Russ Pennell. "I didn't think we competed the second half and it's frustrating.

"They (the Red Wolves) competed harder than us and it was embarrassing. We let the University of Central Arkansas down with our effort and I let my team know it in the locker room."

Good for him...sometimes they need a kick in the rear.

You know, having played high school ball and even worked a little with the practice squad in college (which doesn't make me a coach or expert I know ), I wouldn't worry so much about rebounding if the team got dominated a game or two. But its been more than that. It's a long season.

The red flags came up:

1. Coach started the year with a warning.
2. We were out-rebounded by 20+ a game to start the year.
3. Watching these guys in person, especially the big guys, made you realize as a fan they were soft. Smaller guys on other teams are powering their way into the boards to get rebounds.
4. There is NO team leader. They are just running plays. Will anyone step up?
5. No aggression. We shoot 3s well enough, but that is NO way to game plan. Plus its very difficult to rebound a ball with that arch. Usually gives a high bounce.

As a fan I understand we started over completely from scratch. I also know there is at least one player joining us at midterm and we will have our struggles. That's cool. As I watch other SLC teams defeat and nearly defeat high ranking schools like Gonzaga I gotta wonder if this type of play will be the theme for the year. Let's get a floor general and some board aggression. [-o<

Taking into consideration that this team was put together from scratch,
I'm willing to give them a pass this season. I think that the coaching
staff is solid, and given time will produce results. I don't know anyone
personally, but from what I hear they are all quality kids and are taking
care of the classroom. Sometimes good things take time...and I would
expect drastic improvement next season.

Remember...the Philadelphia 76ers lost 17 in a row to start this season.

First of all, new to the board. Have looked at it from time to time over the years, but never have posted.

First of all, have to agree with Foot, however, based on what I have seen, I believe it is going to take more than one season to get it turned around. I hope it takes no more than two, but it could be three. The program is lower than rock bottom, but Pennell and his staff will get it turned around.

I agree, the kids are quality people. Have been told they are doing everything the right way. Going to class and doing their work.

Since the move to Division I, we went through the Chappell and Williamson phases. Both were bust.
We have waited this long....we are just going to have to wait a little longer.
Some fun times are on the way.

This year is going to be tough, no doubt.
but keeping the same group of hardworking kids together u der good coaching will pay off so that we can build a program, not just a team for a year or two.

Also remember that two of the better players he brought in will not be eligible u til next fall.

2015-2016 will be MUCH better than this year I believe and then, hopefully, the improvement will continue.

I agree 75...I believe some fun times are ahead.
Right now, more than anything, we just need to keep encouraging them.
All of the hard work will pay off soon.

I agree with Beau. I've pretty much written this season up as kind of a practice for the future. Starting from scratch (even with really talented players) is very hard and takes time.
