Hope the guys enjoy France and play some good ball. Wonder if the folks at the fountain knew these were Americans?

They always know the Americans -- we tend to stand out.

Today, the men's basketball team did the Amazing Race. We broke up into groups and walked all over Paris to find the things listed on the paper. We made about 6 stops and took pictures to prove we were there. Such a cool experience to tour Paris with teammates. We took the metro to almost every site we had to see, which was quite the experience for these players. First team back won!! Tyler Miller's team won and Josh's team came in 2nd place by just a few seconds. After the Amazing Race, we grabbed some lunch then started preparing for tonight's game. We played the AMW Select. They are considered a professional team here in Paris. Definitely wasn't an easy game to compete in and the gym conditions were not in our favor. Playing with no airconditioning was rough on the guys but they fought through it and gave it their all. The Bears were up 10 during the first half and up as much as 13 ahead in the second half. The other team gave us a hard game but we continued to fight. The refs blew their whistle on a few bad calls and we ended up losing that 13 point lead. Thankfully, the Bears are so fundamentally sound and fight until the buzzer goes off. Jordan Howard led the Bears in scoring tonight as he hit a few big threes late in the game. Coach Russ was so proud of the heart and intensity these players had tonight. They never gave up! When it was all said and done, the final score put the Bears ahead 81-74. BIG win for the UCA Men's Basketball Team tonight. Couldn't be more pleased with tonight.

Game time tomorrow is 7pm. Stay tuned!!

Way to go guys!

Only thing I can tell you is that they were three and one on the trip and returned a couple of nights ago.

Spoke with one of the coaches today and he said the team accomplished alot on this trip. Said they faced some pretty good competition and that the 10 days of practice before the trip plus the practice and the games while on the road was just invaluable.

#342....Well, you have to start some where. I'm still with Pennell and I like his kids. I'll stick with them till the bitter end.

We still have a LONG ways to go, but I am convinced more and more we FINALLY have the right person leading this program.

Yikes. Im on Team Pennell too though. I think we will win 10 or more games this year and even more the next year. Pennell sure does seem to have the support of plenty of UCA people despite a rough first season, that has to say something about the way this program is headed.

I think he has good support among the faithful....he did something no other coach in the last 15 plus years has been able to do...require his student-athletes go to class!!!!!

If the Bears get 10-to-12 wins this year...that would be a GREAT step.

I just keep saying it is going to be ok....it is just going to take some time.

We invested in losers from Hervey, to Chappell and then to Williamson. I even liked Corliss, but in my opinion, he was not much of a coach.

Pennell has built the foundation....I suspect things will start going up, REAL soon.

Preseason Polls

No surprise here. Predicted to finish at the bottom as they should, but I feel like this team is poised to do better. It may not be reflected in the end result, but this team is already way ahead of where they have been the past several years.
