Fights like crazy to take 59-55 lead then RWs take off to lead 72-61...........ugh.....outscored 17-2.......one more chance to make a run and win this game

Bears fall 89-77..........

ASU 44-45-89
UCA 39-38=77

Led 59-54................then lost 35-18.............

Coach was pretty stark...."...we are soft........" ....the only positive was some young players got some good minutes and played hard..........

Brooks led with 12...........Howard and Lowery had 11..........Parnell with 10....Kamba had 7/11.Unruh 9

Bears shot Ok at 46% FGs, 37% 3s and 70% FTs.........ASU hit 3 more 3s.........Bears had 4 more TOs and RWs were +9 off TOs......rebs very even........Bears +8 on blocks!!!

Little things really add up in b-ball..........

How about recruiting some defense. That will help.

I think our first five are pretty good....after that, it appears there is a drop off causing a depth problem.

There were times tonight I thought we looked good and then it was almost like we ran out of gas.

I'm sticking with them....PERIOD.

@MoreheadState

UCA 44-41=85
MHS 51-60=111

Ugly game for Bears.....Morehead hits 18 3s and is +46 off the bench...Bears again shoot decent with 45% FGs and 38% 3s but only 61% FTs.......TOs about even at 16 v 15.........out rebounded 42-29...........

Howard sets career 3 record (210) and a personal game best at 8...........34 overall in 34 minutes........Kamba ends up 17/6..........Brooks 9/4.........

Bears held close trailing 27-23 after first 10 minutes but never lead after 17:42 mark in H1........even cut it to 3 with 7:09 to go......actually gave up a 25/10/11 triple double......85 points should win you games against most teams........but not tonight

Off to Phoenix tomorrow for Arizona State on Thursday.......

Coach: Disappointed........got out toughed and out hustled......played poor defensively.......thought Ok at half............bigs did not rebound well........Howard had a nice game both shooting and assists and making plays.......Kamba played well in H2........

Howard hits another 3 for career game best........

Mid H2 now trail 78-59.............Howard has 7 3s which ties his most in a game..........

Trail 51-44 at half..............defense?

Both teams shooting well 48% FGs vs 56%.............46% 3s vs 47%.......67% vs 100% but Bears have made 10 vs MS only 4.............TOs are 9 vs 10.....Bears trail in rebs by 10 vs 19...what? And trail is assists by 8 vs 15..........

Howard has 21....apparently playing alone...........Lowery is next at 7.........

Maybe try stepping up the D............

18 three pointers?! Seriously?!

My comment about defense still stands no matter how unpopular. Who cares if we have the best player in the league if his efforts are nullified...no destroyed by the other team hitting nearly 20 threes... enough already. I've watched this team and the defense just isnt there. Either recruit defenders or get an assistant coach that teaches it and forces them to play it.

@ Arizona State

UCA 28-34=62
ASU 51-47=98

Sun Devils 18/45 for 3s and Bears 3/24...............hope the nine days off get some rejuvenation going on so they can get into SLC play on a good note 12/31 vs SHS...........they have certainly played a tough caliber of OOC competition........

Sam Houston at UCA

Bears grab a huge win over SLC favorite SHS..............trailed 64-60 with 2:29 to go an fought back but down 65-64 with 6 seconds........Wiedenaar checks into the game then is fouled shooting a 3 and proceeds to hit all 3 FTs for the win......next up is Lamar Monday at 8pm at the FC.......1st place in SLC

SHS 28-37=65
UCA 30-37=67

Good defense with Bears out shooting Kats only by 30.5% to 30.4% but were 2+ for 3s....+4 rebs......+5 2nd chance points.........+5 FTs and 86%.........however, were negative 9 TOs of which 6 were due to steals.....Howard was solid with 29/4 and 5/8 3s and 8/8 FTs.........Kamba at 16/5.........Brooks was 6/14 and Lee was 5/14......Wiedenaar was only 7/3 but the clutch FTs at the end.....
SHS was an impressive 46-9 with bench points.....

Coach: Thinks harsh pre-season helped with poise........Kats do a great job with pressure and are one of the better defensive teams in SLC....put some new wrinkles in with our guards......

Bears lead 30-28 at half after leading19-12 with 7 to go..........both teams below 30% FGs........Bears +3 on 3s and +11 rebs and 80% FTs........ keep that up and win some games.........Howard is 15/3 with 3/5 for 3 but has 5 TOs.........

Lamar at UCA

LU 43-35=78
UCA 40-35=75

Lamar was +10 rebs and +8 3s........Bears shot 80% FTs to stay in the game (+13).........Howard leads with 21/3/5As and 7-8 FTs.......Kamba 18/7.........Lee 10/8........Brooks 9/7......Unruh tallies 8 on 6/7 FTs.......Nzeakor led LU with 22/10 DD and Weisbrod was 13/12 for a 2nd DD..........

A game, and win, that got away........

Coach: O-rebs was the game....20 2nd chance points by LU......we played hard........our big guys have to consistently get rebs and pursue balls......we have our chance to win............got a good shot out of the last timeout but just did not get it in.........got to stay positive.....every game is winnable.......still a work in progress but we are competitive........in timeouts we are now coaching to win games not just play hard.........Kamba played a really good game.......can get a win at Abilene on Thursday then come home and get some practice days.............

H1: Lamar led 43-40..........being our rebounded badly.........plus LU hitting 3s...............

Yes, this is one that got away.....

We play VERY hard. We do not rebound well. I think right now that one of the biggest things this team has to learn is how to win. Some teams do this faster than others. Losing one like this can go a long ways into learning to win.

I think we are close.....

UCA@ACU

UCA 42-39=81 (2-1/3-13)
ACU 37-39=76 (0-3/6-8)

Nice shooting night at 50% FGs vs 48% and 35% 3s vs 42%.........77% FTs (+10) vs 35%.......+18 rebs.........still, Bears had 11 more TOs........led all but 3 minutes......Kamba was a hoss at 28/8......Howard was 28/3.....Schmit 8/10........Brooks 7/6....Unruh 6/8/4As........

Justin had Kamba on post-game .......very thoughtful sounding young man.......maybe clear-headed and determined.......

Nice game...........Go Bears!!

Coach: Kamba played one of his most complete games....big tip in.....outstanding game for him........shot he ball well........offense real good.......little better defense in H2........guards did a nice job controlling ball at end of game.........Unruh rebounded well........good off to a great start..........pleased with the win but more with how we played.......

H!:
Back and forth game. Bears led 23-22 after first 10 ......trailed 22-17 before a spurt to take the lead ...........stretched to 33-27 with 8 to go..........ended on an up note and held wildcats scoreless over last 2:49........

H1 shooting strong for both at 59% for UCA vs 54%...........3s also got going with 47% to 60% ........only 11 FTs combined and Bears are 3/3..........UCA +6 rebs but have 4 more TOs..........combined only 1 o-reb!!!

Kamba has 16.......Howard 14........Unruh with 6

@HBU

UCA 46-43=89 (3-1/4-13)
HBU 27-51=78 (3-2/7-8)

Bears hang on to win 89-78.........HBU's big man Ibarra played only 3 minutes in H1 with foul trouble but made a huge difference for them in H2...........the Bears hung tough when lead got to only 9 and fought off several runs and kept it at 9-15 the rest of the way.......

Bears 52% FGs vs 42%.........56% v 27% 3s........94% (15/16) vs 84% FTs.......both teams had 34 rebs........

Howard led with 27/4.....Kamba was 20/6/2.......Brooks 20/5/4...
Schmit added 8 and Parnell had 6.........

Derrick Brooks interview: sounded like a 20 year old who is having fun with recent wins........"not Ok just being Ok"..........

Coach: Very rare to have large half time lead on the road.............have to expect a run and have to hold poise and keep playing hard.........wins on the road are like winning two........just happy to win last two on the road...playing the hard OOC schedule is showing up as they do not get rattled......have to take one at a time.........just prepare and go play your best...........focus on next game and not even think about others.........

Next up is TAMCC 7pm on Sat........Bears tied for 2nd at 3-1 with Lamar behind UNO at 4-1.......

Bears on fire in H1 and take 46-27 lead on Howard's 5/5 3s...............
