At the half, Bears trail TAMU-CC 37-36. Bears started hot, but went cold as CC went on a 20-0 run.

@McNeese

UCA 34-38=72 (3-3/4-15)
MSU 45-37=82 (3-3/6-11)

As Coach put it, defense was poor..........score 72 points and you should win......Cowboys won 3s by 44% vs 33% and were +5.........won FGs by 49% vs 44% .....Bears did outshoot on FTs by 85% vs 50% but only got to the line 13 times.....reb about even and TOs low at 9 but MSU was +8 on POTs......Howard was 20/1/3 on 4/8 3s but played much of H2 with four foals......Kamba was 18/8....Brooks had a nice 15/11 double double...........Lowery added 9.......offense was not the issue.......

Got to regroup and fight more on defense for the little things that win games......

Next vs UNO at FC on Sat at 4pm

UNO at UCA

UNO 34-47=81 (6-1/11-7)
UCA 32-31=63 (3-4/4-16)

UNO won rebs 39-22...........plus while they and Bears each shot 56 FGAs...........UNO made 31 (55%) and Bears only 23 still 41%) ..........this sounds like another defensive loss.........UNO is pretty good and we stayed with them in H1..........Kamba had 18 and Howard 14.............Lowery 9

Off to SFA on Wed................Go Bears!

Your right JRK....same song, 10th verse.

IMHO, we have a very solid and good core group. We need help inside with some bigs. Defensively we are not getting any stops at critical times.

First half, we played well and then started tailing off.

New Orleans has some solid players.

As you mentioned about heading off to Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday....I got to thinking....we have never beaten the Jacks since we moved to the Southland. Hopefully that will change this week.

@SFA

UCA 39-37=76 (3-5/4-17)
SFA 42-36=78 (5-3/10-10)

Bears fight to the very last second......except for only 2 rebs and being outrebounded by 20 and 18 TOs and NO 2nd chance points, Bears shot really well.............55% vs 42% FGs..........56% vs 27% 3s.........72% vs 68% FTs...........but SFA had 26 more shots with their reb edge............Howard was 25/3/4 including a half court 3 at the buzzer............Kamba 16/7/2.......Parnell 13/2/3.....

Just think how this would have ended with just a few more rebs or a couple fewer TOs........Bears are playing so much better......... so close

Coach: Really happy with Parnell's play.......attacked the basket well...........Howard is so efficiency........11 shots and 25 points...who does that..........we are not big and physical .........but basketball is so much about positioning..........we have to get better at boxing out and going for rebounds........have to get ready for IWU that likes to go up and down.............need to take advantage of being home the next five games............

Trails 42-39 after H1.....in spite of SFA having a +14 reb advantage and Bears having ZERO o-rebs and 10 TOs.............shooting well so far (59% FGs, 60% 3s and 100% FTs).....Howard (13), Kamba (10) and Brooks (7) are doing the scoring...........need some more help from others........ and get some o-rebs!!!

IWU at UCA

IWU 36-45=81
UCA 50-30=80 (3-6/4/17)

Heart breaker.............Cards score with 2 seconds to secure the win.............Kamba had 25 and Howard 18.......

I was not where I could follow the game today until the very last.............

Coach: Should never have gotten to a 50/50 a game at the end.......did not shoot well in H2........got to 17 up early in H2 then let up............from then on IWU fought back and we were stagnant and complacent.......Kamba did his part today......just got to keep working and get better.......will keep fighting..10 games to go......will get ready for Demons next Thursday (7pm at FC) .......

Damn....this one hurts....I was at the game....we played well early and then we couldn't hit a shot and our rebounding went south.

I still believe we are so close to being a pretty good ball club. If we ever learn how to win, we will be dangerous.

Put this one behind us and get ready for Northwestern State.

Why the Sigh BearCountry ?....I hope this isn't the case, but it may be another couple of years before this thing gets turned around.

It is unfortunate, but it takes time....ALOT of it.

Northwestern State @UCA

NWS 50-47=97 (3-6/9-11)
UCA 48-59=107 (4-6/5-18)

Another high scoring game with the Demons...........apparently not much defense but look at the offense.......56% vs 53% FGs........44% vs 52% 3s (23 3 in total for both teams!!!) .......69% vs 70% FTs (55 combined trips to the line....ugh)......32 vs 35 rebs.........but Bears had only 8 TOs for +4 advantage......not much time for TOs when launching 50 3s............Demons had four in double figures and Bears had 5.........Howard was 33/2/5 with 4/6 3s and 11/13 FTs.....Brooks was 22/7/9..........Kamba 16/5.........Parnell added 12 and Lowery 11.........even with all the 3s there were 82 combined points in the paint..........Brooks opens the game with a 3 after only 19 seconds...........Bears led 26-22 after 10 minutes then Demons surged with a 28-22 next 10 and led by as much as 11 late in H1.......the battle was on for the first 6 minutes of H2 as Bears nudged out a 2 point lead........then the next four minutes the Bears squeezed out to a 10 point margin by 80-70 or 32-20 in Q3........Bears led by only 90-88 with 5 minutes remaining then put it away with FTs.....unfortunately less than 800 witnessed the scoring explosion.....

Now to get ready for SELA Sat at 4pm.........Go Bears!!

Looking at the positives from this season so far: My positive- margin of loss.

SHSU by 2....last year by 30 and 20.
Lamar by 3...last year won.
ACU by 5..last year 1.
SFA by 2...last year by 21
UIW by 1...last year 2.

UCA sits 4-6 on the season in conference. Win 3 of those winnable games and we are 7-3. =D>

SLU@UCA

SLU 37-29=66 (6-5/13-11)
UCA 33-35=68 (5-6/6-18)

Howard hits 3 with one second left to finish the second come back of H2.......49% vs 36% FGs.......44% vs 31% 3s........73% v 70% FTs.....36 v 37 rebs....15 v 10 TOs.......Bears had 15 assists......really balanced scoring......Howard 14/4/2.........Kamba 13/4/2......Brooks an outstanding 10/11/4...Lee strong at 10/7.........Lowery and Unruh each had 6 and Lowery had 7 assists......each team led by 7 during the game.....

Hats off to 5'9 guard Marlain Veal for SLU who was 24/7/5 shooting 56% with 2 steals in 34 minutes.....

Coach: Happy for the guys......ran the last in bound play well.......surprised SLU did not guard Howard closer......when we got good ball movement we got good shots........at times we kept the ball on one side too much...defense is getting better.........really good tonight.....we got the rebounds we needed to get....

Justin had Howard on radio.......Jordan really comes across as the team leader......

Jusitn coins a term Purple Double as both Bears and SBs win today.....

5:15 Lions come back to lead 61-56........Bears still have time to get this one.........

12:31 Bears take lead 49-44 with a 12-0 run....

At Half
Good ballgame.......stats pretty close........balanced scoring for Bears with eight players involved...........
