Good game at the Farris Center.......

Bears led 22-10 early then SFA clawed their way back and took the lead 44-43 with 7 seconds left by hitting a 3.............Bears lead 3s at 6-2 but Jacks are +6 offensive rebs...........need more than Howard to score as he has 28 points (and 7 rebs).............next is Unruh at 5........Kamba needs to get in the game as he ahs 2 points and no rebs.....

SFA@UCA

SFA 44-48=92 (5-2/16-4)
UCA 43-57=100 (5-4/11-11)

Huge win for program...........back to 11-11........exciting college basketball game........first ever win over SFA.......as Howard says in post game this is a signature win......level of play vs ACU was not acceptable.......Unruh said his ankle in H1 was not loose but it warmed up in H2 and his play elevated...........says they will NOT take NWS lightly.........SFA was +32 POTO.....wow...Bears win 3s by 48-18...........

Reminds me of some great AIC games where two solid teams played full bore the whole way..........

SFA/UCA

FGs: 49% vs 53%
3s: 33% vs 59% ( Bears 16/27!!)
FTs: 67% vs 65%
Rebs: 37 v 36
TOs: 17 v 17

Howard goes 43/7 with 6/8 3s and 15/20 FTs............UCA D1 game scoring record and career night..........Unruh career night at 28 points on 7/9 3s..........had only 5 at half.....Kamba had great H2 with a 15/4/5 night.......Jones had 8 assists..........SFA had four in double digits and Bogues had 31

Coach: Two good teams......really got on them at half letting them back in game late.......Lee and Parnell did not have good stats but played valuable minutes resting others.......overcame our own mistakes after some unforced TOs....made the plays down the stretch we needed.........SFA is still the favorites and to get to the top you have to play well and beat really good teams.........have to play with passion like tonight on Sat at Northwestern....... have to take a game at a time to make it to Katy.........

PS.....to see how good SFA has been this season they have only four losses at Mississippi State by 80-75.............at Mizzou (82-81)..............at Southeastern (73-62) .....and @ UCA (100-92).............notable wins @La Tech (85-83)..........@LSU (83-82).........@Abilene (76-66).......

@Northwestern State

UCA 54-41=95 (6-4/12-11)
NWs 30-48=78 (0-9/3-17)

It was not long ago we would have let a game like this slip away....it seems we often play better on road than at home...........this was a much needed road win to keep tournament hopes and season alive..........we should have won and we did.......good job..........

UCA/NWS:
FGs: 56% v 50%
3s: 38% v 335 (and we were +5)
FTs: 89% v 58%
Rebs: 35 v 29
TOs: 15 v 16

Howard was 29/5/3.............Kamba a solid 14/6/4...........Jones and Koval each had 12........

Pretty impressive that Demons had 1900+ in attendance with a 3-17 record.......

Another road doubleheader with SBs next Sat at Southeastern............

Go Bears!!

Bears with some good effort tonight at SELA but come up short 84-89. Kamba with a career high 30 points. Jordan pitched in 25.

@SLU

Hammond not very friendly today.............shoot 58% FGs and 3s and lose...wow.......how often does that happen?

UCA 43-41=84 (6-5/12-12)
SLU 35-54=89 (8-3/14-10)

UCA/SLU

FGs: 58% v 53%
3s: 58% v 50%
FTs: 70% v 78% ( Bears had only 10 trips to stripe)
Rebs: 25 v 32
TOs: 17 v 14

Basically Lions were +11 on FTs and won the game.......17 UCA TOs certainly did not help the cause........Kamba had awesome game with 30/10/3 day....Howard another day at the office with 25.......Jones had a nice 10/6/5 day........

Coach: Defense was not very good today..........we play zone and a 32% 3 team shoots 50%.......did not get to FT line enough.........Kamba can be a tough matchup and can play inside and also shoots 3s.........should win with 84 points shooting 58%........interior defense was very porous.....have to play better defense at HBU than today............

Next up is @HBU.............

@HBU

Another mission accomplished tonight...........

UCA 47-53=100 (7-5/13-12)
HBU 35-45=80 (1-11/5-20)

UCA/HBU

FGs: 56% v 39%
3s: 42% v 27%
FTs: 87% v 52% (20/23 for Bears)
Rebs: 44 v 31
TOs: 16 v 7 (too high)

5 in double figures..........3rd all-time Bear triple double as Koval (in only 31 minutes) goes 17/10/11(blocks).......Howard shines with 35/6/5 night........7/9 for 2pt FGs.....5/7 3s...6/6 FTs........only 2 TOs......Kamba and Unruh each added 13....Mondesir a solid 10/6/3 game..........9 Bears scored and 12 played......

Now back to FC for McNeese next Wed then Nicholls on Sat.....two very big games for Bears....

From Facebook:

Jordan Howard has 2290 points for his career. Todd Day leads the state of Arkansas for total career points at 2395. Howard is just 106 points of taking over the state record for division I scoring with 6 games left.

-Note: Todd Day had the added benefit of many post season NCAA games that Jordan did not. Nice. =D>

MSU@UCA

MSU 43-33=76
UCA 28-44=72 (7-6/13-13)

Never led in the game.......got as close as one late........each team had 4 in double figures.....

MSU/UCA

FGs: 47% v 38%
3s: 42% v 19% (only 5 of 27)
FTs: 50% v 54%
Rebs: 45 v 44
TOs: 13 v 8

Poor shooting......sounds like neither UCA team is practicing shooting enough.....Kamba leads with a 25/12/3 night and Koval with 10/12/2.......Howard had 14 and Unruh added 11.....Jones was 6/10...........

Coach: Did not shoot very well.....did not defend very well.......did not rebound well.......tried to fight back........have to defend better when not shooting well....spend 60% of practice on defense.........shot selection was good but ball not going in......Kamba was a bright spot tonight.........MSU no surprise tonight as they are playing hard to get to the tourney.......they played hard tonight with good guard play.........our guys have to worry about practice tomorrow before they think about Nicholls.......

Really need to win Sat vs Nicholls...Go Bears!!

NSU@UCA

Tough loss against league leader that is very good.......

NSU 44-43=87 (12-2/18-9)
UCA 44-39=83 (7-7/13-14)

NSU/UCA

FGs: 44% v 44%
3s: 47% v24% (only 5 of 21)
FTs: 77% v 76%
Rebs: 38 v 36
TOs: 12 v 10

NSU was +8 on 2nd chance points.............big difference was Nicholls made 4 more 3s.........Howard had a Howard like day with 37/5/3 shooting 57% FGs 19/19 FTs (school record).......Kamba 10/8/5.........Jones a nice 7/9/6......

Coach: They just made a few more plays than us......Jordan was aggressive and took advantage of the officiating....had Hayden play centerfield and even though not as many blocks was disruptive.......team pretty deflated right now........... still control our own destiny........next two on road are tough games but we have played well on road.....

Next week play at SFA on Wed and ACU on Sat...........no time to get down on yourself.......got to get a win next week...if Bears can get to the tourney they are good enough to win it all..........Go Bears!!

UCA@SFA

At least Bears were consistent .........lost H1 by 49-30 and H2 by 48-32................final was 97-62............actually led 14-2 early......... +2 for offensive rebs........those were the bright spots.........otherwise stats are not pretty......had internet problems and could not get broadcast.........

Howard scored 19 and Kamba 13........

Got to get a win at ACU on Sat...................

How scizzo.... I bet SFA fans are rocking back and forward wondering how we beat them earlier this year.

So to this day I can't figure out this team. Are we good? Are we mediocre? Are we bad but getting lucky breaks? Geez. I can see the progress coach is making but what is his philosophy and why isn't it working in our fairly weak league?

Jordan Howard should be close to that Division I scoring record. He needed 106 three games ago I believe.

He got 14, 37, 19 totaling 70 with 3 games left he should get it next game or just after that. =D>

Todd Day...you're about to be dethroned.

Bears pull it out, 74-72, on the road at ACU! Big win for tourney possibilities!

Howard only had 29, the record will have to wait!
