Chloe Smith Named Academic All-America by ESPN The Magazine Quote: University of Central Arkansas junior Chloe Smith was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Volleyball Second-team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Smith, the 2009 Southland Conference Player of the year, was one of 18 players selected to the All-America teams.

What a great award for Chloe. I'm a little verklempt. Talk amongst yourselves. I will give you a topic... For all sports, where does Chloe rank among the all-time great student-athletes at UCA? Top 25? 20? 10? 5? 1?

Oooo, good question. These two immediately come to mind: Cangelosi and Trusty. I'm sure there are plenty of others, but I'm not sure any were as nationally recognized as Chloe has been - as a junior. |

I have to Chloe is right up near the top. She has achieved a lot and to think she only has one more year. By far and way, she is the volleyball player in the history of the school. |

Great accomplishments by Chloe.... Fred Jackson ws an All-American sprinter for Bears in late 60s (his times would still compete today at D1 nationals) and was probably a 4.0 GPA....if not, then close...not much recognition in those days for the academic side of things.....he went on to a Phd and long career as a big university dean..... |
