SR Tyler Gray goes a solid 6 for the win with 7 Ks........also McCarty and Haun combined for three SBs....Sat and Sunday games each start at 1pm...........

Well, the undefeated season did not survive Game2. Bears took early 1-0 lead after 1st then NIU went ahead 21 in 2nd and never trailed again. Bears tied at 2 after 2 then again at 3 after 7. NIU scored in the 8th for the lead and added 2 in T9 for the final score.

UCA 3-11-0 (1-1)

Ended the game with two caught looking Ks.........Bear pitchers gave up 8 BBs and another HBP.......

Series on the line tomorrow at 1pm...Go Bears!!

UCA 4-8-4 (1-2)

Hard to make 4 errors and win a game........UCA pitchers got knocked around quite a bit including two HRs but FR Gavin Stone in his first appearance pitched a 3-up and 3-down 9th for a bright spot......Hunter Strong and Tyler Smith each went 2/4 and each had a double.....

Bears host UALR on Tuesday then the Maroon Bears from Mo State next weekend..........

Usually when the other guys give you 10 BB/HBP runners, 6 hits and 5 errors, you win....but not when you give up 11 BB/HBP and 12 hits...........got to pitch and hit better than today..........no extra base hits.............need to get some wins after losing one run games to UALR and to ORU...........good split with Mo State........ should be a nice day tomorrow at 1pm........Go Bears!!

After leading 6-2 Bears had to hang on in 9th.........Rigo Aquilar went 3/3 with 2 runs and a rbi...........no extra base hits for UCA but 7 for CU including a triple and a HR......UCA was caught stealing 3x.........Strong, Somedecerff and Wright each had 2 hits...............game ended with ground to 2B leaving two stranded...... Cody Davenport got the win in 6 inning of relief and rung up 7 Ks..........

Need to start getting extra base hits......

A couple of home games Tue/Wed vs MS Valley State then off to LC for SLC opening series vs Cowboys..........Go Bears!!

Bears win both games easily by 19-4 and 27-2.................cannot get too excited by stats of games like this.............at least D1 wins and get to 6-6 on the season....gets much tougher at Lake Charles starting on Friday..............

Gray goes strong 7 innings with 1 run on 3 hits with 3 BBs and 14 Ks...........Moyer cleaned up in shutout no hit relief with 2 more Ks.........Smith led the way with 2/4, 3 rbis and 2 doubles......Somdecerf was 1/3 with HR and two rbis.........

UCA 4-12-1 (10-8)

Not very productive getting base runners (17) home but a conference win always counts. Gray comes up short on the win with a very good 9 inning outing giving up 3 runs on 5 hits with 9 Ks. Moyer cleaned it up with a scoreless 10th for the win. Wright (1/5) singles in 10th for walk-off GWRBI. Aguilar goes 3/4 with 2 runs scored and LeBlanc goes 3/4 with a rbi.

Do it again tomorrow starting at 6pm.

Excellent series sweep of Cardinals.........nice job by the Bears on mound and at the plate....

Game 2:

IWU 3-6-2 (13-8)
UCA 8-11-1 (3-2/11-8)

Bears trailed 3-2 before the comeback began.......Wiley gets win in good 6.1 although giving 5 BB/HBP..........Rogers gets save with 2.2 innings of one hit shutout..........Presley goes 2/4 with 2 runs and 2 rbis and the GWRBI in 6th on a solo HR....Smith adds a 2-run single in 7th and Presley doubles home the final tally to end a 4 run 7th.....Aguilar has another good night at the plate with 3/3 2 runs scored.......

Game 3:

IWU 5-12-1 (13-9)
UCA 6-12-1 (4-2/12-8)

Bears jump out to 5-1 lead only to be tied at 5 in 8th and get game winner in 8th on Aguilar's GWRBI single........Presley continued the hot bat with a 3/4 game with 3 rbis and a double......Davenport pitched 7 solid innings but gave up 3 in the 7th...........Moyer gets final four outs including two Ks in the 9th........

OK State @ UCA

Cowboys poke Bears in first trip to Conway........bears now 2-2 in last four vs OSU.... had lots of chances to win this one.............17 base runners and left 15 on......three innings left bases full........just could not get the one hit.....

UCA 1-4-0 (12-9)

Not much offense......pitchers were solid as Stone and Brand each went 4 and a combined 3 runs, 9 hits, 4 BBs and 9ks but gave up 3 doubles and a HR......Rogers pitched shut out 9th to close.........

Homestand closes at 5-1 and now off to NOLA this weekend for a big SLC series.......

Spoke with an OSU fan at the game. He said this wasn't their typical line up. But as the game wore on they started rotating in? Guess we gave them more than they expected. Visited their fan board. They couldn't care less about baseball. It seems its football or nothing there.

OSU used to be hard core basketball and wrestling.........just too much money in football at that level today.............

Somedecerf led the attack with 3/7 with 2 runs, 6 rbis, a double and a HR..............Black, McCarty and Strong each had two rbis........Storing and Aguliar each had 3 hits and Hancock was 4/5 with 3 runs scored..........Presley added two hits including a HR......Wiley got the start but gave up 4 in 3 innings but Brand pitched a solid 4.2 innings with 3 runs on 4 hits.........Rogers and Moyer closed it out.........
