Checked the RPI's for last week. Should be updated tomorrow sometime.

UCA=40
SELA=46
SHSU=89
Lamar=124

Bears are 3-2 against the Top 100 (Strangely that includes Kansas, but not Ok. State): 0-1 (Vandy) 2-1 (Miss. St) 1-0 (Kansas)

Bears are 8-4 vs Top 125 (Includes Lamar, Southern Miss, and Ok. State)

Have a chance for another Top 100 win Wed when we travel to #96 ASU.

By the way, Arkansas was #56. I'm not saying we are 16 spots better than them and I am not going to get into the argument about playing or not playing in state schools, but we are in good company. A 5-0 week would certainly help us out!

Go BEARS!!!!!

RPI

UCA 44
Arkansas 45
SHSU 47
SELA 70
Lamar 86
Ark St 112
UALR 202
UAPB 208

Stock Report

Southland Conference (2 bids)

SAFELY IN: None

ON THE BUBBLE (IN): Sam Houston State, Central Arkansas

ON THE BUBBLE (OUT): Southeastern Louisiana

No change from the midseason projection. Sam Houston State didn’t help its cause by dropping a road series at Lamar this weekend, but the Bearkats actually climbed five spots to No. 47 in the RPI in the last week. Central Arkansas also climbed five spots to No. 44 in the RPI, and its series wins at Mississippi State and Southern Miss are looking better and better now that those teams are getting hot. Both of these teams need strong finishes to keep their RPIs in good shape, but for now they remain in the field. Southeastern Louisiana, which is 0-7 against the top 50 and has fallen to No. 70 in the RPI, remains outside our field.

This list not likely to get much attention for obvious reasons...... need to get back to early season form and make some serious hay against the upper division SLC teams......who would have thought Bears baseball would be this highly ranked this quickly? Really proud of these guys....

I believe the RPI at above link is the only RPI that NCAA will use in seeding baseball....25% W/L record, 50% SOS and 25% opponent's SOS.

Those wins over Miss State and Ok State really help as long as they keep winning.

New NCAA RPI should be out tomorrow.

AT LARGE BIDS

We are moving the SoCon and the Southland into the one-bid category, because the SoCon’s top RPI team is now No. 69 The Citadel, and the Southland has just one team in at-large range in the RPI—No. 32 Central Arkansas, which is tied for sixth place in the league at 8-7. Because of their RPI and their strong nonconference performance, the Bears do have a chance at an at-large bid if they finish strong and fail to capture the Southland’s automatic bid. So does Austin Peay State, which ranks No. 25 in the RPI but sits in fourth place in the OVC at 11-6.

Now that is awesome news. It's good that we're thought highly enough for that sort of thing. Now to start sweeping some conference series.

Be really good to sweep McNeese...have to win lots of games the rest of the way and hope opponent's SOS holds up or even improves.....in any case, the Bears are doing terrific....baseball has been getting stronger each year the past few years and have really reached a level few thought would ever arrive just a few years back..

So I'm a giant nerd and I read the Perfect Game chats from Kendall Rodgers. I submitted a question to him on Monday about how many teams from the Southland he though would get a regional bid. This was his response:

"It depends on what happens in the conference tournament. For instance, if Central Arkansas won the league crown, I think it's a one-bid league. But, if Sam Houston State wins it, I see it as a two bid league (UCA will get in, IMO)."

Sorry for the double post...

But on the same note:

Mississippi State could very realistically win 3 of its last 4 series. They have Vandy this weekend and that will be tough (Would have loved to have seen the Bears be able to throw weekend arms against the Dores). After this weekend MSU has:

Alabama
Ole Miss
South Carolina

If we take care of business and Miss St wins 3 out of the 4 series remaining it will definitely help our RPI.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Southern Miss has 3 winnable out of last 4 with the final series being against Houston who has been in and out of the top 25 all season.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Oklahoma State has a double header against Nebraska this weekend. The Huskers stock has been climbing the past few weeks. If OSU can beat earn a split that will help. OSU will also play Creighton who is third in Missouri Valley.

The only series OSU has left that is questionable is against Oklahoma. If the Pokes win that series it will boost their RPI and help ours.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Kansas is currently second in the Big XII standings.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Wichita State is currently second in the Missouri Valley
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

None of this will matter, obviously, if we do not take care of business on our end. Very winnable series this weekend. GO BEARS
