DID WE FORGET HOW TO CLOSE A GAME!!!!  We need to snap out of it and pull a sweep this weekend if we even want a shot at making the conference tourney.

UCA 3-11-2 UALR 5-7-3 http://ucasports.com/news/2013/5/7/BB_0507132509.aspx Allday goes 4/6....no runs and no rbis...tale of the game..get 11 hits + 4 BBs and only 3 runs.... 2 errors....nuff said.... Gilmore pitched well....bullpen did not.... Attendance Over 1800 Hope this is wake up call...should not have been close..... need to take 2 of 3 from SFA.... |

I was at the game and have seen the Bears several times this year. To be brutally honest it is easy to see why both squads are in the bottom half of conference standings. I guess the Bears just hit lights out in that run where we picked up those nice non-conference wins. Last night 8 of our 11 hits were by three hitters. We have very little power and were still probably one play (throw into left field by first baseman after brilliant stop) or one hit (at several spots when we had runners on) away from a win. I know Coach Gum can only coach what he has and thus all the bunting etc. But I sure hope he is looking for some guys who can rip on down the line or hit a shot in the gap that gets to the wall to go with solid pitching and D. |
