BEARS HISTORIC SEASON ENDS WITH 6-1 LOSS TO MISSISSIPPI STATE

Quote:
Following the game, the All-Tournament team was announced, and the Bears were well represented. Central Arkansas placed four players on the team, second only to Mississippi State, who saw six players receive All-Tournament honors. Freshman Connor Gilmore, who threw a complete game, four hit shutout against South Alabama took one of the two pitcher spots. Catcher Michael Marietta, who hit .316 with three RBI in the tournament, shortstop Justin Treece, who drove in two runs with a double, and left fielder Ethan Harris, who hit .368 with two RBI and three doubles were also honored.

Tremendous run this post season for the Baseball Bears. This program has
Come a long way since the hiring of Coach Gum...and will no doubt be in the mix
In the future IMO. UCA will be hard pressed to be able to keep coach in the
Future. His stock has got to be pretty high right now. It wouldn't surprise me
If he gets an offer in the next few weeks. Lets hope the university is able to
Retain him for a few more years. The national exposure was priceless.

Just wondering if UCA will benefit financially from the tv exposure on ESPN?

Great job BEARS =D>

Still searching for an official answer but the one above is pretty entertaining.

Interesting article from EESPN on NCAA revenue distribution.

Yikes! Scary stats!

The next factoids had to do with the Major League Baseball draft. Polk admitted to being a "college first" guy, but he also professed his love for all baseball, including the professional ranks. He did however want to share some eye-opening numbers with us.

Since the MLB Free-Agent Player Draft has been in its current form (starting in 1966) only 5% of all players have ever played at least one game in the big leagues.

Of the 5% that made it to the big leagues only 6% of those 5% managed to stay 4 years (or the equal of a college career).

Of all the first round draft selections since 1966 only 48% have ever played in the bigs. Or in other words 52% of all first round draft picks did not make it to the majors!

Current MLB rosters consist of 30% foreign born players. Thus making it tougher and tougher for a U.S. born player to get to the big leagues.

Who is rooting for Mississippi State? My guess is that had Bears got to Charlottesville, they would now be heading to Omaha....so close....

Hard to pick winners in these brackets. All of these teams looked very good at times in the sub-regionals. LSU looked awfully good.....

2 each from ACC, Pac 12 and SEC...... 1 each from Big 10 ad Pac 12

Bracket 1
6/15: Mississippi State vs Oregon State
6/15: Indiana vs Louisville

Bracket 2
6/16: NC State vs North Carolina
6/16: UCLA vs LSU
