37 degrees on opening day. Gotta love it. Coldest athletic event I've been to at UCA was opening day of baseball about four or five years ago. Ahhh, the boys of summer.

The schedule is a little lackluster this year....gonna be hard to keep that rpi up. Tons of home games to start the season though. |

I went out to the scrimmage they had in the late fall and those guys don't resemble the team of last year at all. They looked stronger, especially with those throws. The officials working it made a few comments about how "major league' they appeared to be. I think fans will see a really good team this year. Not sure how far they will go but they are impressive so far that I have seen.

Maybe we will get lucky like last year and a big snow storm hits again and we get some last minute scheduled games with teams like kansas and wichita st again. |

A front coming through may give us the chance to play a team like Kansas again this weekend. The Weather Channel app shows a 50% chance of snow in Conway tonight and tomorrow, so who knows what that means for teams further north. I'm not sure how quickly plans like that can be arranged but I know that the games last year with Kansas and Wichita State were penciled in 2 or 3 days prior to the weekends that we played them. One way or another this should be a good weekend of baseball for the Bears. From what I have heard, Missouri State's Friday night guy is projected to be drafted in the first 3 rounds; that would be a good chance for our guys to start the year off with a solid W. |
