Baseball gets underway next weekend with a three game home stand vs Evansville.........then go to UAPB on 2/21 for s ingle and back home on the weekend for three vs Eastern Illinois..................then a tough seven game road trip to Tennessee Tech, Missouri State and Vandy...........should get a pretty good look at the team in these first 14 games......... |

Evansville @UCA UOE 9-11-4 UCA 16-13-0 (1-0) http://www.ucasports.com/boxscore.aspx?path=baseball&id=2772 Good start........great offensive opener...and NO errors.........6 extra base hits..........Hunter Strong goes 3/5 with 3 runs scored, 2 rbis and a double.........Jeff Somdercerf goes 2/5 with a run, 4 rbis and a HR.........three others had two hits..........a few too many hits and runs to give up but it is only Game 1...........Davenport only goes 4 in the start but Gray closes out with 5 Ks in 2.1 innings.......10 Ks in total but also 7 BBs..........no pass balls or wild pitches .rough start for pitchers but a WIN........lace'em up and get after it again tomorrow................let's go for a Saturday Purple Quad with baseball and basketball AND softball........first pitch at 5pm......Go Bears!!! |

Does anyone understand why the first base official told the guy in the second inning who got a triple to walk home? |

Evansville@UCA, Game 2, 10 innings UOE 9-11-2 UCA 10-8-2 (2-0) Hard way to win a game but Bears pull off the improbable comeback with 6 in B9....then win in 10th on walk off HR by Somdecerff.....he and Aguliar each end up 2/5 and 5 runs scored between them.....Haun a big night with the bat at 2/4, a runs scored, a 3 bagger and 3 rbis.....Gray picks up the win in relief in 1.0 inning , 8 pitches and three batters....... Congrats on the great comeback.......One more time tomorrow........Go Bears!! 5th: Bears in a hole 8-0 in top of 5th.........UOE's pitcher has a no hitter going with 4BBs and 8Ks.......... |

Has been a good first two days. There are things to work on in regards to less strikeouts for hitters and fewer walks for pitchers, but this team battles. Once momentum started rolling last night it was an avalanche. |

Evansville@UCA, Game 3 UOE 9-12-1 UCA 3-9-1 (2-1) Have to give the Aces credit.......they scored 9 runs each game.........successful weekend winning 2 of 3..............however, giving up 27 runs and 34 hits is something to work on.... UAPB on Tuesday at PB then home for three vs Eastern Illinois........ Go Bears!! |

Eastern Illinois @ UCA Game 3 of 4 EIU 1-3-1 (0-6) UCA 8-8-0 (5-1) Series now won with 4th game tomorrow for a possible sweep. Nice to have a strong pitching performance as Hagerla gets 8 inning complete game with only 3 hits, 7Ks and no BBs and only 101 pitches......great job............Presley goes 1/3 with a double and 2 rbis.........Hancock goes 2/3 with 2 runs scored and a triple...........now to get ready for final game at 1pm Sunday......Go Bears!! Bears off to a fast start with 7-1 lead in B3 2nd of four game weekend series........ EIU 1-6-3 (0-5) UCA 6-9-0 (4-1) Bears assure series split with Game 2 win. Murray goes 8 giving up one run 6 hits with 5 Ks and Williams closed it up........Ballisterri was 2/5 with a double, run and 2 rbis... |
