UCA@NWS Nice way to start the road trip and get to 15-15 overall...........7-2 in last 9.........at HBU next weekend.......... Game 3 (Sat, DH): UCA 1-4-0 (5-7/15-15) NWS 0-5-1 (3-6/8-1/) Moyer gets the win in a solid 7 IP with 5ks but also 5 BBs.........Tice goes 2 shutout in relief............NWS pitcher goes 9 excellent innings as Bears score sole run in the T5 on an error, sac and bunt................Strong was 2/3 and Aguliar scores the winning (and only ) run...... Game 2 (Sat, DH): UCA 9-10-1 (4-7/14-15) NWS 3-7-0 (3-4/8/17) Bears get 9 in first 4 innings then cruise home........Davenport goes 6 strong shut out IP with 5 Ks.....Brand closes 3 final innings and gives up 3 runs in B8.........Presley was 3/5 with 3 rbis and 3 runs with a double and HR.....Strong was 2/4 with 2 rbis, a run and a sac.......Wright was also 2/4 2ith 2 runs.......McCurdy added 2 rbis on a triple.......... Game 1 (Friday): UCA 2-5-0 (3-7/13-15) NWS 3-6-0 (3-4/8-16) Gray goes 8 solid innings for the loss............Aguilar goes 2/4 with 2 rbis on HR... |

Moyer gets the run rule win with a solid outing including 6 Ks. A quartet of Bears get 3 rbis...............Aquilar, McCarty, Hancock and Ballisterri..........when has that ever happened? Aquilar had a HR..........Bears had 12 hits, 5 BBs and 5 HBP......17 runs with 22 base runners........... @OkState on Tuesday at 4pm........... Murray and Hagerla combine for the win although they threw a lot of pitches. Presley was 2/4 with 5 rbis and Strong was 3/5 with 4 rbis.........13 hits plus Pokes pitchers gave up 8 BBs and 2 more HBP..........Congrats Bears!!! Dallas Baptist, who always seems to have very good baseball, three game series starts Thur at 6pm. |

Dallas Baptist @ UCA Game 1: DBU 4-9-1 (18-15) UCA 10-12-2 (19-16) Nice comeback win to start a series. Gray goes 7 for the win and Tice closes out and the two combine for 9 Ks. McCarty has a big night at the plate going 3/5 with a double, HR, 2 runs and 4 rbis............Presley and Strong each had 2 rbis....... Game 2 at 6pm on Friday. |

They are on a roll right now. A series win against DBU would be a big confidence boost going into Sam Houston State at home next weekend. Would be nice to give them their first conference losses this season. |

Obviously a huge weekend for the Bears getting to 10-8 in SLC play and 22-18 overall.........I was out of pocket and not able to follow the games ...we have four series left as below...... @TAMCC, 6-12 ACU, 2-19 @SLU, 12-9 NSU, 8-10 This sets up well for Bears to secure a good tourney seed and now they need to execute and take care of business.....Go Bears!! |

@TAMCC Game 3: UCA 2-6-1 (12-9/24-20) TAM 3-6-0 (7-14/15-29) Led 2-0 then gave up 2 in B8 on a Bear error and could not tie in T9..........pretty good pitching by both teams......... Game 2: UCA 15-14-4 (12-8/24-19) TAM 13-19-2 (6-14/14-29) Bears led 6-1 then trailed 12-11............finally scores 4 in 8th to take the lead for good.......Islanders scored 8 in the 5th.needless to say not many pitching highlights.......Tice got the save on scoreless .2 IP in 9th.........Presley had 4 rbis and Aguilar 3...... Game 1: UCA 8-8-0 (11-8/23-19) TAM 4-10-3 (6-13/14-28) Good win to open the series........Gray goes a solid 7.2 IP giving up 4 runs on 8 hits with 8 Ks and Hagerla goes the other 1.1............Strong drives in 3 with a HR and Presley gets 2 rbis.............. |

@SLU Bears drop three at Hammond by 10-3, 10-3 and 3-2. Not a good weekend. Now 15-12/28-23. Bears did themselves no favor at Hammond. Tied for 6th now but 9th place UNO is still in the running. If UNO sweeps NWS they end 16-14 and Bears need one win as they won 2/3 from UNO earlier. Bears and Lamar did not play in regular season. Standings: McNeese 20-7........home vs Lamar Southeastern La. 20-10.........finished.......sweep of Bears may have given Lions the championship Houston Baptist 18-9 ............at SFA Sam Houston State 16-11.........home vs Incarnate Word Lamar 15-12 ......at McNeese Central Arkansas 15-12 .........ends with Nicholls at Conway Nicholls 14-13 .......at UCA Stephen F. Bears @UALR UCA 5-11-2 (29-23) UALR 1-7-2 (21-31) Nice mid week win and maybe got rid of the sour taste from Hammond. Brand got the win in 8 strong innings and Tice closed out in fine fashion. Hancock was 2/5 with 2 rbis. Presley and Aguilar each scored 2 runs. Bears swept by McNeese ( a long time ago) and SLU (too recent) Bears lose 2/3 to Incarnate Word......will miss tourney Bears take 2/3 from UNO, NWS, HBU, TAMCC Bears swept SHS, ACU If Bears sweep Nicholls and end 18-12 they could be as high as 3rd seed (not likely) or 4th (possible) or 5th (very likely) Win 2 and end 17-13, then 4th is best seed (possible) or 5th (pretty good chance) Win only one and 6th or 7th is about it Get swept and 6th is best but could be out..... |

Doubleheader starting today at 2 p.m. due to the predicted weather tomorrow. Guys, the Bears are straddling the line for the 8th spot! Seriously! 4 teams are tied at 15-13 and one of those is Nicholls. If UCA loses the next two games they will fall into 9th spot and how well the other teams do will decide our fate. McNeese 21-7 SLU 20-10 HBU 18-10 SHSU 17-11 (2 games against IWU left. Won game one 15-1) Lamar 15-13 ( 2 games against McNeese left. Lost game 1 by 2-10 score) UCA 15-13 ( 2 games against Nicholls left. Lost game 1 by 0-5 score) Nicholls 15-13 (2 games against UCA left. Won game 1 by 5-0 score ) SFA 15-13 ( 2 games against HBU left. Won game 1 by 2-0 score ) UNO 14-14 ( 2 games against NWST left. Won game one 8-1 ) My prediction for the end of conference: Top 4 locked. Nicholls 17-13 UNO 16-14 Lamar 15-15 - overall 30+ wins .......................... SFA 15-15...may end up with 29 wins UCA 15-15...may end up with 29 wins total. UCA needs to take 1 game today. JUST ONE to end the above scenario and make the tournament. I don't want to leave it to the SLC to do it right. Just my thoughts... |
