Murray’s Musings on the CFL’s free-agent list

Quote:
CB/PR Tristan Jackson: Taman stole Jackson from the Eskimos in the trade for defensive back LaDarius Key. Jackson contributed on special teams and was among the league’s top corners. His hit on Calgary’s Romby Byrant will be featured on CFL highlights to come. The Riders really have to re-sign him.

Tristan is still doing big things in Canada.

Rider Beat: Jackson part of a lot of action

Quote:
Tristan Jackson is also enjoying a career start in his fourth season with the Riders and he's doing it on defence and special teams. Jackson, the starting wideside cornerback, has 18 defensive tackles and two interceptions in seven games this season. Jackson has tied his career-high interception mark that he set in 2008 with the Edmonton Eskimos.

Jackson has been particularly effective during the Riders' four-game winning streak with a combined 12 defensive tackles.

...

Jackson is seventh in punt returns and kickoff returns.

He has returned 16 punts for 210 yards and a 13.1-yard average. On kickoff returns, he has 11 for 209 yards and an average of 19.0.

Jackson also returned three missed field goals for a total of 155 yards and a touchdown. Jackson returned a missed field goal 111 yards for a touchdown...

Jackson of all trades helps Riders in many ways

Quote:
The veteran Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive back tied Mark LeGree for most interceptions among Riders this season with a career-best four picks, while also recording 47 defensive tackles - the second-highest tally of his career, behind the 71 he registered with the Riders in 2011.

The fourth-year Rider also racked up more than 1,200 total yards on special teams en route to leading the squad in kickoff-return yardage (with 954 on 46 returns).

Jackson says he'd be willing to add passing, punting, kicking and blocking to his current role, if he was asked to do so. There's only one thing he insists he isn't willing to do on the football field.

"I won't quit," the 28-yearold Beaumont, Miss., product says with a smile. "I won't ever quit, man. That's the one thing I won't do.

"I'll do whatever I can to help the team win," the University of Central Arkansas alum adds with a chuckle. "The only thing I won't ever do is quit."

Tristan Jackson poised to take another step with the Riders

Quote:
If there were two words to describe Riders defensive back Tristan Jackson, it would be "late bloomer".
