Learned today of the passing of former Bear basketball and baseball player Jim McKnight of Bee Branch on February 6th at the age of 58.

McKnight was an honorable mention All-AIC player during the 1977-78 season under the late head coach Don Nixon. I can't be sure, but I believe he primarily concentrated on baseball during his final year which would have been 1978-79. The photo posted with his obituary shows him wearing a Houston Astros uniform.

McKnight transferred to UCA following his first two years at Central Baptist College in Conway.

A memorial service was held today at Bee Branch, Arkansas

I remember Jim. Played baseball and basketball. Good guy, small, tough and a feisty athlete. RIP, Jim.
