Tough loss for the Sugar Bears in a pitcher's duel and defensive gem by both teams. A great season by UCA though it had its struggles with McNeese, finishing only 1-4 against the Cowgirls this season. However, I expect UCA to be a power in its new conference with all the youngsters (very talented youngsters) on your team.

I will definitely miss the Sugar Bears. No matter what sport it is, the contests between the Sugar Bears and Cowgirls were almost always well-contested. I will especially remember quite a few of the epic women's basketball games between these two teams especially a few years back (not so much lately, though, as the Cowgirls fell on hard times.)

Best of luck to the UCA Bears and Sugar Bears until we meet again!

Good game for sure. Good luck to you guys as well! Are you guys planning on moving conferences? Best of luck with the future of the Southland, as I know the future is very uncertain.

Thanks! The Cowgirls are headed to Baton Rouge for the softball regional. What's new? McNeese lives in the shadow of the Tiger.

As of now, McNeese is totally committed to the Southland. Some fans are not happy with that, but for now it is what it is. I read a comment by the Southland Commissioner about an announcement of new members this summer, but who knows?

McNeese/SW Louisiana is still recovering from two hurricanes. This is a time of recovery for the millions of dollars in damage. McNeese has a President and a new AD who have a vision for McNeese. We will see what the future holds. Onward we go.

I do figure that UCA will be a power in most of the sports in its new conference. Make us proud!

First off I'm PROUD of how our softball team played this year.
How tough was it to lose 1-0 and even had runners on base!

McNeese played lights out and also deserve to be in the post-season.
Prayers up for them and their community and campus as they bail water yet again. Be safe Cowboys! Go win some more! =D>

Yes, the Sugar Bears certainly had a good season and gave the Cowgirls all they had. They have a promising future ahead of them. One thing both these teams had in their favor was having more than one pitcher they could rely on. That SFA pitcher (Wilbur) is awesome, but she definitely tired out.

And, yes, SW Louisiana/Lake Charles is being hit again with 17 inches of rain pouring down and flooding areas. So many homes and buildings still have blue tarps on their roofs and are still fighting with their insurance companies about payments owed. Prayers are definitely needed.

Congrats to Jenna Wildeman with all her post season awards...
It's a possibility that she might win ncaa freshman of the year.

Hope UCA can keep her in the fold and she doesn't leave ala Gracie Hyde!!!!

Also congrats to the other softball ladies for their honors after a great season/

Steven Campbell Jr, Athletic A.D. of MGCCC, graduated UCA with an MBA.
His dad Steve Campbell, coached football at UCA.
David coached in Mississippi before.
I guess he's familiar with the state and wanted to go home after 27 years.

Don't know a ton about this new coach, but thought it was very tongue and cheek when she said she's a mid major gal. I have a feeling if someone came in 3 years later from a higher tier program, she would be gone in a heartbeat.
