Girls are pretty frustrated after losing to Lamar (2-1) last night. I didn't make the trip but spoke with my daughter. They had 8 on frame and more "just miss"es while Lamar only had 3 on frame. The Bears were 1 for 8, while they were 2 for 3 - yes only 3 shots on target.

They have to take out SELA on Sunday to maintain a chance at their first ever D1 post season.

Difference between last year and this - they are creating chances and preventing chances. Versus Lamar, last year they were out shot 22 to 11 with shots on goal 8 to 4.

The girls have improved VASTLY in every area, but scoring in conference games.

Against the same six teams they played against last year:
Last Year V This Year
Wins: 0 v 1 +100% (I know the math says I can’t divide by 0)
Point: 1 v 4 +300%
Goals: 3 v 3 even
Shots: 56 v 77 +37.5%
SOG: 23 v 35 +53.2%
Opps
Goals: 18 v 7 -61.1%
Shots: 113 v 66 -41.6%
SOG: 51 v 27 -47.1%

They are simply possessing the ball better and generating opportunities. In doing so, limiting their opponents chances and defending better against the opportunities.

Friday is a "must win" to keep post season hope alive.

Agreed. Losing to Nicholls would not be good at this point, not just for postseason possibilities. Having to follow that up by playing Oral Roberts is going to be tough.

FYI - Nicholls took ORU into double OT last weekend! So I do not anticipate they will be a pushover this Friday.

Oh, I agree.
That's the thing about soccer. In cases of relative equal talent, it's probably more of a toss-up in predicting a winner than any other sport.

I have never been what you would call a soccer fan...but a few years ago I
started getting the Fox Soccer Channel on my Tele. I started watching the
English Premier League for something to do once American Football was over.
I have learned alot about the sport and have a greater appreciation for the
ones who play. I actually know by name a lot of world wide players
when I see their picture...and I now have a favorite team. (LIVERPOOL),
"You will never walk alone"

I certainly can understand the frustration part of it. The thing I hate the worst
about soccer is ( off sides ). It is one rule that really confuses me. Especially
in the 6 yard box. Oh well, whatever.

Both of the soccer programs at UCA have made huge strides this year and
better days are on the horizon. Congrats to all. =D> =D> =D>

Big Game on Friday -

1. Senior Day
2. Last game of the regular season - NOT LAST GAME! because...
3. It's a "win and their in" situation. McNeese lost today to Sam leaving 6th place and final spot in the tournament up for the Bears to take.

It would be great if a great representation of the student body could be motivated to come cheer them on.

Agree that they're much improved. Congrads to the girls and the coaches. They played everybody tough and I'll bet that the teams in the conference tournament were not sorry that they won't have to face this team.

I think a more rigorous non-conference schedule next year would help them over the hump in conference play. I would like to see them drop all the Southwestern Conf matches exept maybe UAPB. SMU, TCU, North Texas, Oklahoma, Tulsa, St. Louis U, LSU, are all geographically close and would be good opponents to add.

I was at the game on Friday. It was a heartbreaking loss, but I see lots of potential for years to come. I like where Coach Bishop is going with the program. They won 10 games this year and I will say they will make the postseason next year.
