They started the season off right, slapping a 10-0 whipping on Alcorn State. http://ucasports.com/news/2012/8/17/WSO ... 25356.aspx Be it know that Alcorn is dreadful, but they were bad last year when we won 4 to 1 at home. Last year, the Bears managed 13 shots. Friday they got off 32 shots with 22 on frame! As I said in my previous post, Adriana Lucar will score some goals for this team. She came through with a hat trick in her first official game as a Bear, scoring her first two in the first 4 minutes of the game and her third 30 seconds into the 2nd half. Freshman Mari Chavez in her first game as a Bear added her own hat trick. Cristin Curl, the 5th year senior who joined the team after exhausting eligibility on the volleyball team added a goal, make three Bears scoring in their first soccer game as a Bear. Abby Hodgson, Kristin Pollard and Cassie Lange also added scores. An additional goal was scored by Maddi Poteet, but she was ruled off side. Another was close, when the "save" may have happened in the goal rather than in front of it. Today's game against ULM will be a better gauge of how improved this team really is. ULM is similar to UCA in that they have under performed over the last few years and they too have made a coaching change. This will be ULM's first game. They did beat Northwestern State in a n exhibition 4-1. |

Sugarbears beat ULM today, 2-1! They are now 2-0 on the year after their first ever win over ULM. |

Two home games coming up this weekend too. Hopefully they can get some good crowds. |

The Bears looked really good on Sunday. They moved the ball well and held a significant time of possession edge. Adriana and Mari both put a lot of pressure on the defense, which is opening up the other forwards and mids to get in on the attack - very fun to watch! Coach Bishop is tweaking his line up and finding the right combinations. What's really encouraging is that he is two deep with quality players at almost every position. With this they will be able run with and past almost every team for the full 90. Go Bears! |

Only the Women's basketball team are the Sugarbears... All others are Bears. |

golf and (track and field) are the only two I have questions about. The others on my list are what they are as listed. Anybody know about those two? |
