Bears continue to beat up on bad teams, beating UAPB 6-0 in a rain shortened game. Schedule will improve next year as these SWAC teams start dropping off the schedule.

They move to 7-2 on the year.

That's good to hear that the SWAC teams will be coming off the schedule. If you want to be the best, you have to play the best.

Good to win matches you are supposed to win..... it certainly gets tougher....

Ladies did it again Sunday beating Texas Southern 5 - 2.

The Bears finished up Non-conf 8-2 and leading the NCAA in goals scored. Adriana Lucar added her third hat trick of the season!

Competition will be stronger beginning this Friday at Northwestern State, but based on what I witnessed the last 2 1/2 seasons, the Bears will win a fair share of the conference games.

I hope the "presesason" success transfers over to the conference season.
The turnaround for both the soccer teams has been MUCH faster than I think anyone would have expected.

I agree. I had hoped to see some improvement with the changes, but this has been a very fast turnaround!
Congrats on the great season so far...keep it up!

There's the kicker.

Tough weekend for the Bears. They tied one they should have won on Friday at
Northwestern State. Had the better play, more opportunities, and just couldn't finish. The demons are well named as they mauled our girls at every turn. NW was hit with 5 yellow cards and were shorted more than a few in my opinion. The two on UCA were retaliation yellows.

Sunday at SHSU, they played a more even match, still out shooting the opponents, but again, just missing the frame.

As feared, the lack of quality non-com opponents is reflected in speed of play affecting the Bears.

They'll have a big test this Friday as SFA comes to town.

Thanks for the recaps.

Friday afternoon saw the Bears go toe to toe with the best team the UCA Women will face this year. SFA, led by soccer Olympian Kiley Louw (South Africa), was held with out a goal in the run of play. The Lady Lumberjack 68th minute goal on a free kick was a near perfect shot bending toward the goal over the wall and slipping between Kelsey's glove and the post. The SFA team knows they had to fight for this win.

The game was delayed twice for lightning and was played in a cold rain. While not much for moral victories, a 1-0 loss to a team that has outscored their other three Southland opponents 13-0 (5-0,3-0, 5-0) certainly was not the sting of the 0-0 tie from the Friday prior.

On Sunday, the Bears continued a trend of rattling the pipes without getting the goal. Almost doubling McNeese in shots and having crazy 14-2 corner Kick advantage, the UCA women continued the scoring drought. They are getting the opportunities, but just not finishing the deal. The defense continues its strong show of keeping the team in the game while the offense gets past their scoring struggle. regulation time ended in a 0-0 tie, sending the game in to overtime. In the 9th minute of the 2nd OT (109th overall), Kristin Pollard crashed the goal on a corner and hit the golden goal securing the Bears' first conference win of year.

The improvement of this year's team over last year's is amazing.

Coach, Kristin Pollard and Alex Wurst discuss the games this weekend:

Also, Emma, Kristin and Kelsey collect honorable mentions this week in the POW voting. Since 2 schools have to vote for you to get the HM, assuredly both of our opponents this past weekend selected these girls in their voting.
