Vanderbilt meet is usuully very competitive.... Bear Jonathan Burgess finsihing 14th is good and a time of 25:19 for 8k (just barely short of 5 miles) is solid. Another seven Beas ran decent but need to come down a minute over 5 miles (doable) for conference meet time. A couple of SugarBears had nice times but need to be 30-45 seconds faster by conference. Cooler weather for training will help with the times.

http://www.flashresults.com/2015_Meets/xc/TamuInvite/men.pdfBears at

Texas A&M Invite...7th of 12...

TAM edged out Lamar by 56-54....

Bears Top 5 were between 10th and 57th and only 1:08 apart which ii decent separation...team in the mix in the middle of the field....

Top Bear was 5:02 per mile for 6k (about 3.7M)......solid but will need to get better before SLC meet....SugarBears took the week off....

Both teams in action this coming Saturday at Rhodes Invite in Memphis..very solid course....

(NOTE - Baylor SO Maggie Montoya from Rogers was 4th in the women's race at TAM)

Not great team finish a #16 finish for top Bear Jonathan Burgess. Bears had first five runners at 26 minutes or better for 8k (about 5 miles) with Burgess at 24:50. They need to close that gap more before SLC meet but that is decent depth.

SugarBears have lost the best distance runners in school history the past two years and are rebuilding with some good promise. FR Diana Moreno was 74th to lead SBs with 18:25 for 5k which solid for a true freshman.

Chile Pepper Festival is one of the leading cross country meets in US for junior high, senior high and college. It is an honest and outstanding course and yesteday was near perfect for CC. Agri Park will be the site of teh NCAA D1 Regional in November.

SLC XC Meet results ...Bears were very respectable with some solid times over 8k......our #1 runner, Jonathan Burgess, ran 24:15 (very good time....all time UCA best...in very good company) and All-SLC. Should be very competitive at NCAA West Regionals in FAyetteville on Nov 14.

SBs are rebuilding and ran short-handed due to illness and injury......SOPH Brigette Caruthers of Branson, Mo. ran 22:03 for 6k which is 7th best all-time for SBs....

Will have to look at complete meet results for better comments but middle of pack at the Fayetteville Regional is a good finsih......top Bear was 16th...pretty solid....

UPDATE ---

2nd best finish at D1 Regionals...best is 8th...

Arkansas edged out Texas by 42-51 with Lamar a strong 3rd at 102....SFA was 5th, McNeese 8th and UCA 9th.....Lamar's Sam Stabler was 3rd overall in an excellent 29:35....

Among teams Bears finished ahead of included Rice, Houston, Baylor, Tulane, Lafayette, LSU, UALR and A-State....

SR Jonathan Burgess, 16th...one spot out from getting to run at D1 Nationals.....time of 30:16.9 is a school record for cross country 10k besting Edward Limo's 30:59 set in 2013...

JR Albert Maeder, 61st in 31:32.8....now 3rd on UCA All-Time list behind Burgess and Limo..

FR Brant Cook, 66th in 31:37.2..becomes 4th on All-Time best list....

JR Josh Quiroga, 77th in 31:48.2.....6th on All-Time List...

SO Grant Williams, 80th in 31:48.9...7th on All-Time List...

These are all solid 10k times, especially in mid 20 degree weather.......

Arkansas easily won women's race with only 29 points with Baylor 2nd at 82.. Lamar was 4th (excellent) ...SFA was 9th and McNeese was 13th.....

SO Brigette Caruthers,75th in 22:25.4 ...9th on All-Time SugarBear list
