Off to a rough start going 0-3 so far on the trip losing to South Alabama 9-3 on Thursday then fall on Friday by 7-0 to Jacksonville State and 2-0 to South Alabama. Take on JSU again Sat followed by Alabama State. Got to get the offense going. |

@LSU Purple and Gold Challenge Tourney in Baton Rouge Tough weekend for wins but playing LSU well at their place should be a good gauge ...........six home games starting next Friday with the UCA Invite...........Western Illinois, UL-Monroe, HBU and UAPB.........then a DH vs Lyon College on 2/28........... Game 4: UCA 0-1-1 (2-8) LSU 2-5-2 (9-1) Gomness went the distance and pitched very well against #7............ Game 3: GSU 5-5-0 (3-6) UCA 2-8-1 (2-7) Game 2: UCA 2-8-1 (2-6) #7LSU 9-12-2 Hats off to our ladies for hanging in and battling the #7 team at their home field......Whisenhunt had a very nice 3/4 night with a runs cored............Brooks was 2/4.......had out chances with 7 LOB.........our pitchers had no Ks while LSU tallied 8..........get ready for another set tomorrow..........Go Soaftball Bears!! UCA off to a good start leading 2-0 over #7 LSU in bottom of 3rd.......tied in B4 at 2-2........hanging in.... LSU edged ahead 3-2 in B5 and exploded in B6 for 6-2 lead with a 3-run HR........ Game 1: UCA 6-8-1 (2-5) GSU 1-3-4 (2-4) Kayla Gomness goes the distance for the win with 4Ks and only one BB......Whisenhunt (also 3 SBs) and Brooks each go 2/4...score 6 and still had 9 LOB......much better bat work and superb pitching...........good job.....#7 LSU at 5pm....... Trail GSU 1-0 in 5th.....storms back for 6 in Top of 6th to lead 6-1.......... just hold serve in bottom..........now in bottom of 7th still leading 6-1........... Sat and Sunday doubleheader each day this weekend with Georgia Southern at noon and LSU at 5pm on Sat and 9:30am and 2:30pm on Sunday ************* Picked up win #1 over UAPB 10-2 in mid week game..........always helps to get the first one.......... |

UCA Invitational @ Farris Field Game 3 vs ULM ULM 6-9-0 (9-5) UCA 10-9-2 (4-9) Trailed 3-0 until B5 for a 4-3 lead then to 10-3 in B6.........hung on to win.............Fontillas with 3 rbis with a HR and 2 each for Hill and Brooks........Gomness gets the complete game win........next up is HBU tomorrow at 11:30am..........Go Softball Bears!!! Game 2 vs UAPB (run rule after T5): UAPB 0-2-4 (2-10) UCA 10-9-2 (3-9) Gomness goes 5 for the 2 hit shutout win with 7Ks and 0 BBs......Crutchmer goes 2/3 with run scored.......Reynolds 1/2 with a run scored, a 2B and an rbi.........take on ULM Sat at 12:30.......Go Softball Bears!! Stretch lead to 10-0 in T5 Lead 5-0 in T2.......... Game 1 vs Western Illinois: Fell 6-3 (2-9) |

UCA Invitational @ Farris Field Game 4 HBU 6-12-1 (7-5) UCA 5-7-1 (4-10) Fell behind 6-0 then rallied for 5 in 6th but that was it.............FR Cylla Hill (Henryetta, OK) had her first college HR going 1/3 with a runs cored and 3 rbis........SR Hannah Stirton (Owasso) also was 1/3 with a HR............ Next is a home DH with Lyons College on Tue ......then off to Starkville for 5 games including Samford, UMass and MS State................time to start putting it all together.... |

@Starkville Bulldog Slamboree Game 4; UMass 1-7-0 UCA 2-3-0, 11 innings (6-12) Wow.....what a softball game........first run scored was top of 10th by UMass then UCA tied in 10th then won in 11th when Hill singled to score Whisenhunt for the winning run. Both teams starting pitchers went the distance with Kayla Gomness getting the win for UCA. Game 3: UCA 1-2-0 (5-12) MS State 2-6-0 (16-3) Excellent pitching today as Reaves go 4 and Fullilove finishes...........getting hits was tough as we had 12 Ks but Fontillas goes 1/3 with a HR......... Play UMass at 5:30pm Game 2: Samford 3-11-1 (5-11) UCA 2-2-0 (5-11) http://www.ucasports.com/boxscore.aspx?path=softball&id=2931 Gomness goes 8 pretty well but gives up 11 hits...........not much offense to talk about even though we had 9 BB/HBPs to work with........... What is it about Bears losing close games vs Bulldogs? @Starkville Bulldog Slamboree Game 5: UCA 0-1-1 (6-13) M-State 8-11-2 (18-3) http://www.ucasports.com/boxscore.aspx?path=softball&id=2938 Just not able to hit Bulldog pitching. Shepard had one hit and one BB but we could not get anything going. Four UCA pitchers got some valuable experience against a pretty good team and only gave up one BB..........6 runs in the 2nd inning was more than enough today. Next are two home games this week with ULM on Tue and Ms Valley on Wed, then off to lake Charles for the SLC opener. Go Bears!! |

3/8/17: MS Valley 3-6-3 (2-16) UCA 9-11-3 (7-14) Reaves and Gomness combine with a solid pitching game............. Myers was 3/3 with 3 rbis.....Shepard 2/2 with a run and rbi...........4 doubles in total......... 3/7/17: ULM 1-5-0 (13-7) UCA 0-2-0 (6-14) Excellent pitching by both teams.......not much offense......ULM did have 3 doubles ........ |

@McNeese State Game 3: UCA 3-5-0 (0-3/7-17) MSU 7-7-2 (3-0/16-10) Reaves gave up 7 in 3 innings then Gomness had to come in and she shut Cowgirls out the rest of the way......Wallace was 1/1 with a HR........Whisenhunt was 2/3..........not much else on offense....got to get going as losses are piling up........ Games 1 and 2: Bears drop a DH by 8-0 and 6-2...........we drop to 7-16 and Cowgirls are 15-10. Searcy hits solo HR for UCA in nightcap and gives up a HR in 1st while pitching. Game 3 Sat at noon. |

Missouri State @UCA MSU 6-10-1 (11-9) UCA 2-8-1 (7-18) Pitching at least gave only 2 BBs but Fuliliove gave up 2 runs and 6 hits in 1.2 and Gomness had to relieve finish and gave up 4 runs on 4 hits and the two BBs........at the plate we had our chances with 8 hits (all singles) and 5 BBs and a HBP.......12 LOB.........got to get timely hits............. Mississippi State in town for 5pm first pitch on Wed.......... need to start getting some wins..... |

Mississippi State @UCA MSU 3-13-0 (21-5) UCA 1-6-0 (7-19) Dogs score 2 in top of 9th to salvage the win..........too bad we could not properly welcome a SEC team to Conway..........looks like a much better ballgame........Herman pitches a solid 5.1 and only one run on 10 hits ..........defense did well to strand so many runners as there were 0 Ks......... Gomness pitched the final 1.2 and got the loss.........MSU had 2 hits, a walk and a two-out single in T7 for the winning margin...........UCA had tying run at plate in B7..........McArthur was 1/1 with a rbi and Shepard was 3/3 and a BB along with a double.........each team had 9 LOB....... Incarnate Word at Farris Field this Friday (DH) and Sat....... |

Incarnate Word@UCA Game 2: UIW 5-8-3 (1-4/5-22) UCA 4-6-2 (1-4/8-20) Tough game to lose.....got down early on a Cards 3-run HR and came back but just short.......... tying run LOB in 7th............Searcy gives up 5 in 5 but had 5 Ks...long ball did her in.........Reaves pitches shutoff over 2 to close........another four SBs...........Whisenhunt 3/4 with a run............Hill 2/2 with a rbi.....really need Game 3 tomorrow Game 1: IWU 0-6-1 (0-4/4-22) UCA 5-8-0 (1-3/8-19) Good to get a win.......Gomness goes the distance with the shutout plus 4 Ks and no BBs.....4 stolen bases.......Pratt was 2/2 with a run and a rbi..........Whisenhunt, Shepard and Wallace had hit with a rbi............ Game 2 coming up............ |
