Incarnate Word@UCA Game 3: UIW 1-8-3 (1-5/5-23) UCA 6-11-1 (2-4/9-20) Gomness goes 5.1 with 72 pitches, 1 run, 6 hits and 3 Ks for a nice start.....Fullilove closes up with 1.2 of shutout ball. Myers was 1/3 with 2 rbis on a double.....Shepard was 2/3 with a rbi and run......Whisenhunt was 1/1 with a rbi......Crutchmer was 3/4 with 2 runs...... Good to win the series but a sweep was so close........next on road at Jackson State on Tuesday, then home on Wed vs Lyon College then the weekend series at Sam Houston State |

UCA @ Jackson State UCA 13-13-0 (10-20) JSU 5-8-3 (7-21) Would trade this one for a loss last weekend but good to get a win............Gomness started and did not make it out of the first giving up 3 runs on 3 hits.........Herman got the win in 3.1 innings of relief giving up 2 runs on 4 hits including 5th inning HR.........Reaves closed out with a shutout inning........UCA tallied 5 extra base hits including a 5th inning HR by Holdiness who was 2/3 with 3 runs ad 3 rbis...........Shepard was 2/2 with 2 runs and 3 rbis.......Myers was 2/2 with a run and 2 rbis.......... Back home tomorrow for Lyon College....... |

Lyon Collge @ UCA LC 4-7-2 (13-11) UCA 13-14-0 (11-20) A win is a win but not sure this counts anything more than a practice game......Gomness plus four in relief combine for the win..... only 2 Ks and 5 BBs, 1 HBP, 2 WP.......+ 129 pitches in 6 IP...........Hill was 3/4 with 5 rbis, one run and a HR........Whisenhunt 2/5, two runs, 3 rbis and a HR.........Shepard 3/3, 2 runs, a rbi and 2 doubles........ Now for the trip to Huntsville foe the Kats Fri/Sat............ |

UCA@SHS Ugly so far............. Game 2: UCA 0-1-1 (2-6/11-22) SHS 4-5-0 (5-3/14-15) SHS wins on grand slam in 3rd.....pitching not bad with only 73 tosses in 6 IP...... Game 1: UCA 0-1-3 (2-5/11-21) SHS 13-12-0 (4-3/13-15) Really no UCA highlights........ |

UCA@SHS Game 3: UCA 5-5-2 (3-6/12/22) SHS 3-8-2 (5-4/14-16) Credit the ladies for closing the gap in Game 2 then getting the win in G3. Searcy kept in close giving up 3 runs on hits in 4.2 IP then Gomness closed with a 2 hit shutout over 2.1 IP.........the pitching combo threw a pretty efficient 101 pitches..........Meanwhile the bats clawed back as Reynolds was 1/3 with a 2 run HR............Hill went 2/4 with a double and run scored.......Searcy also has a sac fly to score a run to start the 3 run 3rd............. Now off the play Memphis on the road on Tuesday and back home next weekend for Nicholls State......... |

@Memphis UCA 2-4-2 (12-23) UM 8-9-3 (18-13) Bears take early 2-0 lead but give up 5 in the B5 and could not dig out............Gomness gets the loss but pitched 4 solid innings............not many batting highlights although Shepherd went 1/3 and a rbi......credit Tigers pitcher for strong last 5 IP...........6Ks and only 1 BB and no extra base hits.......... |

Nicholls at UCA Tough weekend after a great start..........ran into some very good pitching........at Ole Miss on Tuesday then SFA in Conway for the weekend series.......... Game 3 (Sat): NWS 3-9-1 (10-2/24-12) UCA 1-4-2 (4-8/13-25) Gomness goes the distance dn pitches well but Nicholls pitcher keeps UCA bats quiet........Reynolds gets only rbi on a 1/1 nay with a double.... Game 2 (Fri, DH): NWS 3-7-1 (9-2/23-12) UCA 1-3-1 (4-7/13-24) Excellent pitching by Nicholls.........Reaves pitches well for UCA............Fontillas gets UCA's sole run across with a sac fly.......... SLC standings and remaining games: MSU 21-3 NSU 17-7 ACU 17-7 (ineligible for postseason) LU 16-8 SLU 12-12.........could be 12-15 or maybe 13-14 UCA 12-12.....best is 15-12..........more likely is 14-13 SHS 11-13.........maybe 13-14 or 12-15 NWS 11-13..........12-15 with series win by UCA SFA 9-12.. HBU 8-16.......probably 9-18 but maybe 10-17 UIW 4-20 TAMCC 3-18 UCA @ NWS.........we need to win at least 2 to get 4th seed.... SLU hosts MSU.......Cowgirls should win series if not sweep SHS @ HBU........ SFA @ ACU |

McNeese wins 8-0 over Nicholls...........congrats to the Bears on a great effort.....being #5 seed and coming so close to returning to the championship game........ Bears fall 4-2 to Nicholls in next to last game of tourney............ Our ladies have really stepped up late in the season and even though fell to Lamar in the opening round game, they have slugged it out to be one game from the final game. Got to get by Nicholls at 8:15pm tonight (another rain delay).
