UCA @ University of North Florida, 3/23-24 https://static.unfospreys.com/custompages/1718/XCTF/2018%20UNF%20Spring%20Break%20Invitational.pdf Competitive regional meet including Clemson and Boston College. UNF has had good cross country and we used to compete with them in D2 Regional Meet.......good showing by both teams............Alex Hanson is the real deal winning 800m in 1:51+ and doubling in 1500 for 8th in 3:56 which is about a 4;10 mile.......closing in on school record in each event.........Zach Jewell another solid 100/200m double..........Eric Moore gets 2nd in HJ...........Taylor Dunn runs a very nice 5k in 17:31 (about 5:36 per mile) to get 3rd in W5000m.......Markus Schweikert wins 5000m in 14:45 which is about 4:43 per mile or 14:10 for 3 miles........Daniel Lawson run s a very solid 47.57 for 3rd in 400m........ Alex Hanson set UCA school record at the Virgina Challenge trackmeet by breaking All-American Jamie Holt's 800m time with a very fine 1:49.50 clocking...........that is especially good given the weather the past few weeks.......with a couple good weather weeks before conference he would be on track to get into 1:48s........be great to sneak into NCAA regional field and see what he can do........... |

SLC Outdoor Meet @ Incarnate Word First, high fives to the two SLC event champions.............. Alex Hanson wins M800m in a sparkling 1:48.67 new UCA record and only .07 off SLC record Eric Moore in the MHJ back to what he is known for at 7'1"+ Great job by both and congrats...... Second, this was a terrific track and field meet on the team level........sweep by SHS Men's SHS 131 ACU 117 SFA 94 UCAs 9th with 47+ points Women's SHS 166 SFA 117 NWS 111 UCA was 12th Third, some other nice UCA performances....... Zach Jewell, 5th in M200m at a swift 20.92 (took a national level 20.37 to win) and 8th in the MLJ at respectable 23' 11" Daniel Lawson took 3rd in the M400m at a very fine 46.77 Markus Schweikert did a distance doubled with 3rd in the M10k at 31:15 and 8th in M5k at 15:24.......this is a tough double with 10k run first.......... Zac Bitton took 7th in the Men's Decathlon with 6241 points winning the Dec Discus, 2nd in the Javelin, 3rd in both the HJ and SP...... Fourth, others scorers....... W1500m - Alexander Ruiz, 8th, 4:43 W400Hurdles - Morgan Logan, 8th, 62.11 WHJ - Hannah Noble, 7th, 5'5"+ M10k - Preston Borg, 6th, 31:31 MSteeplechase - Jaron Hamilton, 6th, 9:17 MHJ - Logan Hall, 7th, 6'7"+ Last but not least the SugarBear 4 x 400m relay team was 8th but ran a solid 3:47.91..........it takes sub 3:40 to get to the upper tier of D1 in this event and sub 3:30 to win nations but 3:47 is a good run......... |
