this forum is very hard to find if you dont know where it is. is there a way to get UCA to put a link on there site?

google wont even show it.

lets make this site more visable.
we need to expand our fan base, one way is to increase readership of this site, conway has 100,000 residents during school.

and how many are active or know about this site?

Great point...we do need to get the word out!
However if you do a google search for "uca fan forum" this is the first site that pops up, but on the flip side if you search for "uca fan site" it doesn't even come up on the first page.

If you search for UCA Bears, you get this site as the fourth listing.

I just added "message board" and "fan site", so after a few more google crawls maybe the site will show up for those searches.

We're also working on a few (free) ways to promote the site.

I have a LARGE banner at the top of my website, I am not sure how many people use the link, but I am trying to do my little part :)

BTW: Would the PTB be opposed to me designing and selling UCAFANS.com t-shirts?

PM me, I have some ideas for displaying during tailgates and marketing etc.

PurplePower, if you will check out the different athletic's sites in the Links category you will see none of them, I think, have fan forums listed on their home pages. Sometimes things are said and pictures posted on these fan forums that I'm sure the majority of these schools would just soon not have their named mentioned with in the same breath.

I do a little lurking on some of the SEC schools and found them out by word of mouth. Not to say that it doesn't exist but I don't ever recall seeing fan forum boards listed in print anywhere when it comes to being advertised in newspapers, etc.. You don't seem to be new to fan forum boards so maybe you understand what I'm trying to say. Without any sponsorships on this board it is virtually and financially impossible to promote this site to the public.

We are our own and best advertisers for this site. Within this present school year we have initiated our "official" tailgating group, are sponsoring a hole at the baseball golf tourney this coming Friday, and on the call-in show after the football games there has been some promotion by the KUCA crew.

So tell your sport's nut friends about UCAFANS.COM and tell them to join in. I've always been told word of mouth is the best form of advertising anyway. Looking forward to your postings about the Bears.

Those keywords are so critical in search listings. Gotta have the right ones! Plus using words of pornographic, illegal and crude in nature in your keywords tends to ruin a good site..it brings in the freaks of the world...oh wait a minute...we have monkey!

or am I going out on a limb here?

I've made some events and groups on facebook about UCA athletics and I put www.ucafans.com as a link so hopefully it will be visible to students and they will check it out

certainly do not want to burst Purple Power's enthusiasm for the site, but I dont think UCA could promote the site anyway with some of the things posted on here like Honey brought up. I would think some of the stuff on here would violate some NCAA regulations or rules, especially recruiting, if this site was linked on, or endorsed by UCA or UCAsports.com.

Word of mouth works, and I think the site does some other things as Honey mentioned to help get the name out as well. The number of registered numbers is not 1,000, but when you consider you have things in place that doesnt accept/allow spam sites, it is doing ok. plus, I know for a fact there are a ton of people around UCA, Conway and every other part of the world that reads this site, but doesnt necessarily post all the time, if ever.

Just for the record, the stats show there were "2,266 Absolute Unique Visitors" last month. So, while there may not be thousands of members, there are thousands of lurkers.

There have also been 31 new members since Sept. 1.

I think we have a great following. Our site participation ranks right up there with McNeese, TSU and SHS. Unfortunately I don't the other SLC schools appear to have very good forums/participation. Just another area where UCA is already making our presence known. Way to go guys!

Let me also add that honestly, we probably have a good percentage of the total number of UCA Bears fans as members here. Everything is relative. Of course a big SEC school fan board is going to have more posting members, b/c they usually have a larger fan base. As the fan base grows, the user base will grow also.

There are only certain types of fans that will be involved enough to post regularly on a fan board. So, perhaps the best solution to grow our member base is by doing an end-runaround: help grow the overall fan base, and our membership will flourish.

I really enjoy the site and tell people about it frequently. I know some of them read and don't post, but that's okay because in the end we're all Bear Fans!

ALL VERY TRUE.

I AM very guilty OF LURKING THIS SITE OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS..... and sometimes i forgot where it was...

***** anyway MOST Arkansans are also Razorback fans such as myself, but with the hogs shifting there focus on the NW and trying to ignore the rest of the state now is a good time to get those central Arkansas fans to go purple, its easy for me i live in Conway and worked at UCA in the 80's and have attended 80% of bear home games.

what we need is a concerted effort, and from the looks of what you guys are doing its working.,.,. BUT with the goings on in hog country now is the time to kick the hogs and steal some hog fans.

SO HERE ARE SOME SUGGESTIONS SOME YOU ARE DOING SOME YOU/WE NEED TO DO BETTER

WORD OF MOUTH <> MAKE A SCREEN SAVER / BACK GROUND FOR YOUR COMP AT WORK TO PROMOTE THIS BOARD AND THE BEARS,

E-MAIL YOUR FRIENDS INVITE THEM TO GAMES AND SEND THEM A LINK TO THIS SITE AND THE BEARS SITE

GAME DAY BANNERS AT THE STADIUM PROMOTING THIS BOARD

TEE SHIRTS HATS

AND THE TAILGATEING AREA, FINE FOR THOSE WHO KNOW, BUT FOR THOSE WHO DONT KNOW WHEN AND WHERE?

FIND LOCAL BUSNESSES THAT ARE WILLING TO GIVE FREE SPACE / TIME

The UCAfans.com Tailgate area is located on the UCA practice field in between the Pepsi Americas Center and the Crafton Alumni Pavilion, along the bush and tree line that runs along the Purple Cirlce (Gray) Parking Lot directly to the west of Estes Stadium.
