For any lurkers at Wingo Hall and at the Athletic Dept:

There is a little dilemma that has arisen concerning Aramark and the stranglehold they have on this university when it comes to support and school spirit for sports and other organizations on campus.

Some fans and supporters of the baseball team are wanting to sponsor a "benefit" cookout for the baseball team. All proceeds would be donated to the team for them to do with as they please. Let's just say it's our way of showing our appreciation for what they do.

However, after crossing our tees and dotting our eyes with the legalities of said event, we have found out that the selling of food for fundraising is not permissable at the ballpark by anyone other than Aramark. I find this a travesty and rather disheartening to know that a group of guys can't get together and do a little something to promote some school spirit and support for a program. I could go on with my displeasure but I'm rather sure you get my point on the subject and I am also sure that this subject has been brought up before.

If I might make a suggestion - please, the next time you sit down with Aramark to talk contracts, please remember the little guys out here who are wanting to do the little things for this university. I know it is much easier and quicker to just rubber stamp the contract from the previous year but let's do a little negotiating on the next one. Believe me, I'm most positive that selling a few dogs and burgers will not affect the pocketbooks of Aramark. Aramark is not putting fannies in the bleachers, we are. We would appreciate a little consideration for our cause.

If your food sucked as bad as theirs, would you want any competition either?

This pretty much sums up my feelings also except to add that their service is the only thing worse than the food.

The crowds at Estes have far outgrown their methods of serving.

It worked fine when a big crowd was 3,000, but no more.

The way to get food and drink to big (relative term I know) crowds is by utilizing smaller kiosks and other "remote" serving methods.

For any of you who went to the La. Tech game last fall you saw what I mean.

The had seperate "stands" for different types of food.

Hamburgers and hot dogs were in one location, sno-cones in one, nachos, etc.

Probably could...

Probably will

It's the principle of the thing - the employee telling the employer what he can and can't do. :x UCA can survive without Aramark on campus but Aramark cannot survive without UCA on campus. Yet, look who gets to call the shots.

Brilliant!! You sure you don't have a little used car salesman in your blood?
BTW, for the unique suggestion, you are entitled to two free napkins whenever we decide to do the cookout. :)

Only one thing wrong with the "do it anyway" argument.

For whatever reason we have a long-standing contract with Aaramark (I have heard they do make a large donation to the university) and we need to be careful not to p*** off the powers that be and risk losing the tail-gating options we have only recently been granted.

It is a public school ya know.

p.s. I hate the food and the service.....see above.

Well if the ptb can bombard my mailbox and my computer asking for donations for various venues at UCA, then I would think they would be elated that a few good ole boys are willing to do something at our own expense to raise money for the school.

I know of no business or organization that has prior rights on the selling of napkins on campus. But I will check with the legal dept. to make sure us fans are not stepping on any toes.

It sounds like Aramark might see how they are rated if they were lurking on this thread.

F%$k Aramark.

If you google them, we're just the last in line (behind the other colleges, retirement homes, and prisons) that are tired of their @ss.

It's food, people. It ain't rocket science.

If they don't want to play, they can take their canned beans and soy burgers and blow them out their..................

I digress.
