What's everyone thinking about this season? I don't see any non-conference announcements yet, but I am sure they are coming. Hoping that we can go nowhere but up! Seems like .500 overall would be a dream at this point. Heck, I would be happy with .500 in conference. Looking at the ASUN last year, we should be able to compete with Kennesaw State, Jacksonville, and Stetson. Other than that, I have no idea. Pretty scared for the games at Liberty, Bellarmine, and Lipscomb. Hope we can keep all games within 20 points this year.

Overall, very optimistic and excited to see where we are at 2 or 3 years down the road with Coach Boone.

I think I would be ecstatic with 500 overall and probably 500 in ASUN. That is not fair to Coach and the Team but based on recent past that would be improvement. The roster has a lot of youth and not a lot of on court time with Bears....hard to assess what impact will be.

Other than just casual info on ASUN teams I really am not very up to date on the new competition.

While I look at Sagarin College Football ratings a lot, not so much for the basketball ratings. So, I took a look at tonight.

There are 34 D1 MBB conferences.....the Top 5 are the P5 with B10 at #1 with a rating of 85.08. Southland was #31 at 62.46...the ASUN was #30 at 64.36. Not the same teams this coming year but pretty close last season. Of course, the changes in teams in each conference will impact the ratings. Ohio Valley was #25 at 66.04.

The new ASUN teams by division are below.....the past season overall W/L and ratings is indicated:

East:
FGCU,63.37, 8-8
Jacksonville, 62.07, 9-13
Kennesaw State, 56.21, 2-19
Liberty, 76.10, 19-6
North Florida, 63.59, 7-14
Stetson, 65.76, 10-14

West:
Bellarmine, 64.77, 12-8
UCA, 60.35, 4-19
EKU, 71.42, 20-7
JSU, 70.84, 16-9

Lipscomb, 67.91, 11-12
North Alabama, 62.96, 9-11

The Top 4 ratings were Liberty, EKU, JSU and Lipscomb

The Middle 4 were Stetson, Bellarmine, North Florida and FGCU

Bottom 4 were North Alabama, Jacksonville, UCA and Kennesaw State

Thanks for breaking those down!

I am not expecting a miracle, but I would eventually love to have a competitive team. From the ratings, it looks as though the SLC and ASUN were pretty comparable. Hopefully if we step it up we can increase the reputation of the ASUN!

Name one D1 program that has football but not basketball... as far as I know, you can't. But there are many schools with basketball and no football... or at best, a smaller level of football.

-Big East ( Ex: Villanova is FCS, Georgetown is D2/FCS I believe, Butler is FCS... --Marquette has no football or baseball even, and there some that don't even have it)
-WCC (except I think San Diego is FCS independent)
-Horizon League
-Summit League (a few schools have football, but not more than half)
-A10
-MAAC
-American East

Plus I'd like to see any college of a UCA level play the schedules that they have played these last few years... it's "MURDERER'S ROW"

In comparison it would be like football playing 4 games vs 2 SEC teams, a Big 12, and maybe an ACC/Pac 12/ Big 10 team.

Coach Boone seems like a good guy with a good staff from what I hear around Faulkner County/Little Rock area. I plan on showing up to a few games this year (for sure the ORU, ARK #woopig, and UALR games) when I can. BEST OF LUCK TO COACH ANTHONY BOONE, ROSTER AND STAFF.

Hard to take "Tongue and Cheek" comments serious through text ... that's why emojis and "jk's" usually help with those who don't live on message boards.
