Nice set of plans, Max. The near endzone would look good for Estes' Bruce Street frontage.

MaxCat,

Can Tx St get enough $$$$ on I-35 between Austin and San Antonio for the move to FBS??

I would think UTSA is starting football for a move to FBS, being they are in a large media market. But...the wrong shade of orange for that area.

interesting to see how it all shakes out....

SAP,

If we can stay above .500 most years and go to some bowl every 3-5 years, yeah I think we can support it. We can't support a 1-10 FBS team tho, obviously, as few can.

As with all sports, if you win, the fans (and $$$) will show up.

Enjoy the new pictures!

According to the NCAA Stats TX State ranks 31st in the nation in attendance by percent capacity.

73.76% (67,348 out of a total capacity of 91,308 for 6 games...an average attendance of 11,225 per game)

So, do I understand these statistics correctly? If we were not in the transition process, our attendance numbers would rank 3rd among FCS schools? Looks like our 125.43% of capacity would put us between Appalachian State and Butler. Seems like that should help justify a stadium expansion.

Good question. But budgets always dictate expansions. I've seen games at UCA where you could pick your seat. I've been to games where people were turned back due to lack of seating..(I worked the gate and watched people leave early on complaiining about no seats.) I guess a grand stadium that holds 13k would suffice..but the competition brought in has to be more than or equal to UCA...IMO :D

In answer to your question, no we do not sell out our stadium.

As it stands, max. cap. for Bobcat Stadium is around 15,800. The last sellout was December 2005 when we hosted a playoff game, and before that you would have to look back to the 1980s.

A losing product on the field does not bring fans to the game. I saw on a website that Texas State ranks #6 in all-time win/lose percentage in Texas College football (the same site has UCA as #1 in Arkansas)

http://michigan-football.com/ncaa/states.htm

20 years of lack luster seasons, and a perceived lack of progress by the administration has led to apathetic fans. Things are changing in San Marcos, and hopefully we will have a few more winning seasons before we attempt the jump.

Thanks for the link Chris. I see where the post season record for UCA is 14-13-2 for a .517 average.

The Razorbacks are 11-25-2 for a .316 average.
