NCAA preparing to bar some schools from postseason because of academics

The men's basketball and baseball programs at Centenary are in the crosshairs, its athletics director says. Also needing waivers, according to officials at their respective schools, are Weber State's playoff-quarterfinal football team and a Texas-Arlington baseball program that claimed a Southland Conference championship and an NCAA tournament berth three years ago.

This is a tough issue.....I would hope they only use this missile for repeat offenders who show no real signs of trying to improve......the unintended consequence is that schools will pass on more young people with marginal academic records which leads to lost chances to attend college......more than a few marginal academic athletes have turned into credible students and some even caught fire academically with the need to keep grades up......no easy answer....
