Congrats to Texas State and Sam Houston State for getting bids into the D1 baseball tourney. Sam won the SLC tourney to get the auto bid after placing 7th in the SLC regular season. Kudos to Bobcats for getting in on record and strength of schedule.

Bobcats (41-15) are in Austin Region and play Boston College (33-24) on 5/29. Other teams at Austin are #1 Texas (41-13) and Army (34-19).

TSU was 24-7 in SLC regular season and had major non-con wins over Texas Tech (10-4), Baylor (5-3, 7-2) and Rice (4-1). Some of their non-con losses were Arkansas State (4-3), TCU (8-2,9-5) and Texas (6-5, 12-2). They lost three times to Sam by 7-5, 17-10 and 7-1.

BearKats (36-22) get to play in the Houston Regional and take on Rice (39-15) in first game. Other teams are Kansas State (41-16) and Xavier (38-19). Key wins include Rice (8-6), Houston (18-16, 11-2), Baylor (9-8) and Texas State (6-3). Some notable non-con losses were Saint Mary's (4-3), Utah (5-4), Dallas Baptist (4-1, 6-2), Rice (9-3) and Texas A&M (6-2).

UCA went 1-2 with each winning 11-4 over the Bobcats and 8-2 over the BearKats.

Texas Sate has a big chore in having to get past #1 Texas in the Austin Region. Sam may have a bit easier time with some solid play but Rice is a great tourney team and K-State is one of only six D1 teams to have 40+ D1 wins.

Best of luck to both SLC teams.

Neither team is the 4-seed, so both have a bit better chance of winning game one. Texas State (RPI of 30) plays Missouri State (RPI 63).
MSU is 12-8 against RPI Top 100 teams; TSU is 12-11. Both teams look pretty even on paper.

Sam isn't quite as close to KSU though.

MO State didn't even make the tournament. TX St plays BC and Sam plays Rice in their first round games.

Crap. When I googled, it came back with "Predictions."
Obviously didn't notice that word.

TSU held leads in both games, 8th or 9th inning leads I believe, and let them get away from them.
