Sam Houston State Sweeps Southland Volleyball Player of the Week Awards
Offensive Player of the Week - Anna Ferguson, Sam Houston State
Ferguson, a native of Dallas, Texas, led Sam Houston in kills as the Bearkats twice fought off match points to come from a 2-1 set deficit to defeat both Stephen F. Austin and McNeese State in five sets. The win over SFA is only the 2nd in the last 14 matches against the Ladyjacks. The victories extended Sam Houston's winning streak to nine matches, its longest since 1994, and the Kats' 9-1 conference start is their best as a Southland member.

Defensive Player of the Week - Kaylee Hawkins, Sam Houston State
Hawkins, a native of Dickinson, Texas, is the only Southland player with over 40 digs in a match this season and set a new league season-high in addition to breaking the school record with 44 digs in the win against McNeese State. Franklin, the Kats team leader in digs, ranks third overall in conference with 367 and ranks fifth with 3.90 digs per set.
