Since Ga So and Appalachian St are transitioning to FBS they are still considered FCS and are still in the Southern Conference, however, they aren't eligible to play in the FCS playoffs.
Should actually benefit Southland teams because the SoCon appears to be down this year.

Not to bust anyone's bubble but if you've seen NDSU play this year it appears all other FCS teams will be playing for second place this year.

Yes they are...just like Montana and South Dakota, North Dakota
Has no FBS LEVEL programs. They are the top dogs in their
Respective states. It may help explain their success.

NDSU looked very tough vs K-State... I would think they are a mid Big 12 level team right now.....they would pulverise Kansas....anyone willing to take them vs Texas?

There is the making of a pretty decent FBS conference if you added the six schools from the Dakotas and Montana along with 4-6 otehrs form that area. It is obvious that Montana and the Dakotas are vert avid football states... and they even play in-state schools!!! I think the close rivalries may add a lot of flavor to the pot .....

2012 attendance datae:

Montana ...25,000+
NDSU....18,500+
Montana State ...17,600+
South Dakota State...11,800+
North Dakota...9,000
South Dakota ....8,900

Area FBS:
New Mexico....22,000+
Wyoming...19,500+
Colorado State....19,000+
New Mexico State...14,200+
Idaho...12,600+

Area FCS:
Eastern Washington,,,,8,000+
Northern Arizona....6,000+
Idaho State....5,900
Norhern Colorado....4,000+
